Barnett Will Add Pace and Power Friday, 23rd Nov 2012 17:01 Blues boss Mick McCarthy says new loan signing Tyrone Barnett will add a bit of pace and power up front. Barnett has joined the Blues on loan until January from Saturday’s opponents Peterborough but is not able to face his parent club. McCarthy said: “He’ll bring a bit of power and pace up front, and a physical presence without any doubt. If we get the right service to him, he’ll score goals. He’s impressed in training already this week. “What is nice is that the scouting reports we’ve had before from Steve McCall and the others, and my own scouts all said ‘If you can get him until January, that’ll be excellent’.” Town were interested in signing the 27-year-old from Crawley in January, before his £1.2 million switch to Posh, but McCarthy says talks have not yet taken place with either Barnett or his current club regarding a longer term switch: “No, we’ve just taken him on loan and we’ll see what happens.” In terms of the off-field issue which led to the striker’s Peterborough exit, McCarthy says he hasn’t looked into the matter: “I don’t know what happened there. I’m not going to start finding out, I want him to come in and play for me, I’m not going to be delving too deeply on that one.” Photo: ITFC
