Stearman: Tough Blow For Wordsworth Tuesday, 19th Feb 2013 06:00 Richard Stearman has spoken on behalf of the entire Ipswich squad in support of injured fellow new boy Anthony Wordsworth. The pair joined up at Portman Road on the same day last month, Stearman on loan from Wolves and Wordsworth on an 18-month permanent move from Essex neighbours Colchester. Wordsworth, making his first start for Town, was forced to make way for 34th minute substitute and matchwinner Michael Chopra, whose goal was enough to secure all three points against Blackpool on Saturday. With manager Mick McCarthy revealing that the collision with goalkeeper Matt Gilks left Wordsworth with three cracked vertebrae, Town fans may not see him until next term. Stearman said: “We are all very disappointed for him. He looks a very good talent and in training his performances have been of the highest quality. It is a very unfortunate thing to happen at a stage where he is still settling in. “On behalf of all the lads I want to wish him our very best. Hopefully it won’t be too long before he is back out there. It’s a really tough blow for him.”
