Town are likely to be without both Richard Naylor and Chris Makin on Thursday in Milan while Inter look likely to have most of their stars in the side. Alun Armstrong is also a doubt after missing out at the weekend with a hamstrong problem.

George Burley said of his inury situation: "Chris is really struggling with his knee and must be rated very doubtful. Richard's foot has been bothering him for a while — he had an injection on Saturday — and his chances are no better than 50-50. Martijn Reuser is still struggling with his back and Jim Magilton is also doubtful with a thigh strain. He's only been doing light training."

On the subject of the opposition the Town boss said: "My information is that all the star names — Vieri, Ronaldo etc — will be facing us. They're going to hit us with the full Monty! Inter are the top team in Italy at the moment and a trip to the San Siro ranks alongside Old Trafford, the Nou Camp or the Bernabeu. We are not kidding ourselves. They are full of world class players, a tremendous side, and we will have to be solid over there. We will have to be strong and defend well. But we're in the lead and if we can get an away goal they will need three."
