Villa and French Sides Linked With Cajuste Tuesday, 24th Jun 2025 12:45 Premier League clubs including Aston Villa and French sides are reported to be showing interest in former Blues loanee Jens Cajuste.
Town are keen for the 25-year-old to return to Portman Road following an impressive 2024/25 on loan, but manager Kieran McKenna admitted last month that “there’s probably a lot to do for that to happen”.
Previously, Italian reports claimed the Sweden international, who is not in manager Antonio Conte’s plans, was one of two players offered to Udinese as a potential makeweight in a move for Italian international striker Lorenzo Lucca.
Now, according to arenanapoli.it, Premier League clubs, among them Aston Villa, and unnamed French sides are keen on the midfielder. A move to Udinese is said to be a difficult one.
Cajuste previously played in France for Reims prior to joining the Azzurri in the summer of 2023 for €12 million (£10.23 million).
The Serie A champions are said to want €10 million (£8.52 million) for the Gothenburg-born schemer this summer.
Cajuste, who has another three years on his Napoli contract, made 26 starts and seven sub appearances for the Blues during 2024/25, scoring once and was beaten to the Supporters Player of the Year award by Liam Delap by only 36 votes.

Wherever would he play in the Villa side ????? Probably they would buy him and sell him to us for a profit !!!!
Marinersnose added 12:58 - Jun 24
Sounds to me that Cajuste hasn’t had too many offers other than us and his agent is trying to get more interest and more money for their player. He’d be a welcome addition but let’s not get caught out paying over the odds for a DMF.

He had a good season for us and would be a definate asset. But can we afford him ?
herfie added 13:03 - Jun 24
Is there any player that AV isn’t interested in?! Pessimistic, however, that we’ll see him back with us - sadly.
Rimsy added 13:08 - Jun 24
We keep getting drip fed interested clubs, but someone would have snapped him up if so. Just trying to squeeze a better deal. Offer what we're prepared to pay and give him a week to sign or forget it, we don't want to be messing about all summer.
Kentish_Tractor added 13:11 - Jun 24
It's pretty clear to me that we aren't his first choice. If we were he'd be here already. No animosity towards him for that - you can't blame him for wanting to play at the highest level possible. Maybe if he doesn't find a higher club by the end of the window he may consider us and that would be great. But I think we're best looking for alternatives who are hungry to play for us rather than holding out for Jens who may or may not join.

Is it me or are we very slow of the mark with so called new addtions we must be the only club not to have got any players yet .
jas0999 added 13:27 - Jun 24
With many players departing and likely more to come, let’s hope several deals are down the line so the new additions bed in prior to season start. Jens is a good player. Injury concerns though, he wouldn’t start Saturday, Tuesday every week. If this one isn’t likely to happen, we are hopefully in negotiations with other players.

With the greatest respect....SO WHAT ?! Never saw him as suitable or capable of a full Championship season, despite his quality. Midfield needs a complete overhaul now so let's go invest in quality, younger players like Josh Brownhill (OK not so young), Jason Knight and esp (Morsy successor) Hayden Hackney.

Lets cut this story short as it seems to be running on...he ain't coming here! (some deluded posters will still hope this isn't the case).

GSH71. Yer, its you. Kind of. Fact is, that as things stand, we don't need to sign many players, whereas others,do. And in fact there's only a couple of clubs that have signed many, if any players yet, despite many being linked to clubs. We prob only need a striker and 2 midfielders right now. That could change if others leave, but there's no need to rush to sign anyone. They said before the season finished that they were already planning for next season, so I'm sure there's no need to panic.

TimmyH. You may be right, and he may well end up elsewhere. And it wouldn't surprise me, he's a good player. But shouldnt believe all these links to him. There's absolutely no proof that there's anything in those links.
Dissboyitfc added 14:18 - Jun 24
No it’s not just you GHS71! I check in at least twice a day for transfer news and it does appear to be very quiet. While as things stand we need 2 midfielders and a striker, which isn’t a lot I still would like to see our dealings done early.

So you're querying the links in TWTD then? maybe ask Paul where they've come from. Otherwise I'll stand firm, he ain't coming here...

Our contingency planning for our midfield is borderline criminal. The most expensive group we’ve ever assembled, and we have ONE 34 year old for the managers most important positions, the engine room, the kingpins, our double pivot, which we play in any system. It’s negligent. I’m afraid our entire group of senior decision makers, really didn’t factor relegation at all. They bought last summers media hype, and the narrative from Ashton and McKenna 100%. We really need a complete reset off the pitch. Leeds are already tapping global networks to sign players. It might not work, but it least it has a chance. What’s Zondervan, Wilnes, Reusser, Paz, Tarrico up to? Our scouting networks had a better reach when we didn’t have a proverbial pot to pee in. Why in year 5 are we still not developing global networks that are realistically now the only strategy to bridge the EFL EPL quality gap. It’s like we are stuck in 1998 WBA mode.., we are better than this.

Can’t we just report on players we want to buy?
tractorboybig added 14:32 - Jun 24
he is not coming here, and our transfer record from last season shows we are way out of our depth

Has everyone complaining about no transfers in yet forgotten about PSR rules? The financial reporting period all clubs are currently in ends at the end of the month. This has 2 effects. 1. clubs cant buy until they have sold if they have spent alot already in this current period (just like Town have). 2. Clubs that are selling will get desperate in the next 6 days and that put pressure on prices and you see the yougsters on a transfer merry go round. Aside from all that, IF we don't move any more players out I'm not sure we need to many more to come in anyway.
PackwoodBlue added 14:38 - Jun 24
In todays crazy world of prices £8.5m doesn't sound too bad. But as others have said, does he want to be here? If so, why hasn't he signed already? Or have the club said to him; look, we probably can't afford for you to come back here now, so good luck in your future endeavours but if you still haven't found a club by beginning of July, let's talk. Who knows...

PS Adrian Paz didn’t like training and running in sand, to build stamina. This is what we need.., the exotic whims and cultural differences of players from all four corners of the world.., I want an African former world player of the year, who pretends he’s 30 when he’s 40 if he’s a day…, I want the South American flair of a Paz or Dos Santos, or the long and flamboyant locks of Tarrico …, even those of Ian Marshall would suffice. The Dutch flair and technical brilliance of Romeo and Martyn .., even the left peg of the far flung Scotlands Ian Redford would add an element of excitement and interest we lack. We have a generation of supporters who have never enjoyed bringing a team of nations together, and think football is about over coached, modular, LEGO style, media trained, soulless mediocrity. I don’t want signing 365,789 players from the EFL and Ashtons 1990’s WBA contacts…, it can only ever make us a very good EFL club, at best. If that’s what we’re settling for, at least give us the promise of some technical exotica to get bums off seats!!! Sigh.

I’d like to see him back here but, if these constant stories about other clubs at higher levels being interested in him are true, I don’t think it happens frankly. What I don’t want to happen is the club keep chasing a lost cause!

not surprised of interest in Cajuste although half of it is probably made up by a filthy agent
