West Ham Recall Henderson
Thursday, 21st Mar 2013 10:54

West Ham have recalled keeper Stephen Henderson from his loan with the Blues. The Irishman was due to remain at Portman Road until the end of the season.

The Hammers insisted on including a 24-hour recall clause in the 24-year-old's second loan spell of the season with the Blues.

The former Portsmouth man made 16 appearances for Town in his first spell between October and early January and another eight after rejoining in the final hours of the transfer window.

Henderson's departure leaves the Blues with Scott Loach, Arran Lee-Barrett and youngster Michael Crowe. Manager Mick McCarthy could choose to bring another keeper in on loan before next Thursday's loan deadline.

[Edit] West Ham's decision to recall Henderson comes after second-choice Raphael Spiegel broke a finger while training with the Swiss U21 squad.

I'm sure Mick if he hasn't the confidence in Loach will get another suitable replacement on loan until the end of the season but it is a pity as the whole back unit have been working well together - should be interesting what happens now as in terms of how many we concede as 4 goals in 9 games is pretty exceptional.

All this recall stuff to spite our relegation fight is a joke, Spriegel the Austrian reserve keeper has broken his finger, hence the Henderson recall.

theobald. i didnt say henderson is that much better than loach, just that he is better. the point i did make tho was that the defence have been so much better(as you said), because they have confidence in henderson. my concern is that they may not br so confident with loach behind them. hopefully that wont be an issue but if it is then i fear we may go down

Come On nothing wrong with both our keepers if given a chance.
Both ITFC through & through.
We will be fine no way we're going down just because Henderson has gone back, that's stupid talk!!

Cheers Allardyce..probably still pissed that we knocked him out of the play-offs in 2000.

Personally i'd rather see ALB given his chance again over Loach.

Ideally we'd bring in DeVries (if fit?) from Wolves.

Let's get real.
Henderson is West Ham's Player. If we reversed the situation.....
We send ALB out on loan to a League 1 club. We have a 24 hour recall clause. Scott Loach then breaks his finger....
What would we (honestly) do?
He is West Ham's player. Not ours. That is the main issue of having so many loans.
Think Loach should be given his chance but also think we should get someone else in before next Thursday. If Loach got injured right now- we would be right in it.
Anybody know who might be available?

alex: they did it because their 2nd keeper has broken a finger.

No good complaining - it is a LUDICROUS situation for this Club to be in - we have had MORE than adequate time to invest in a 'top notch keeper of our own'.
With this now happening it may well have been far better to have kept playing Loach - who now comes in from the cold, with lots of pressure on his shoulders. Not ideal for him, or the Club.

But like I've said - there's been plenty of time to sort it - and it hasn't been done !!

All now considered we'll be very fortunate to escape relegation this season - and that's being REALISTIC.

daniel9624 - you're right - and haven't we helped Allardyce to do just that by keeping HIS (not ours) keeper playing regularly in competetive football ??

Mugs - that's what we are.

..... back four and keeper have to re- aclimatise again - under much more pressure, with games running out.

Permanent signings next season please: 1. Solid keeper 2. Stearman signed 3. Creative wide midfielder 4. Goal scorer

Do people enjoy being so negative. No panic,if MM feels he needs to strengthen position,he will.

warktheline - it's called: 'real world' or 'cloud cuckoo land' - NOT being Negative.

We takes our personal choice - which we are entitled to do.

You obviously miss the point of the disruption caused at a crucial, possibly even critical time.

Trouble is we have no games to play Loach before the deadline on thurs.. So the Deep end in he goes,, not much pressure HEY ?????
We all know he should be ok !! but games are running out, so there can be little room for errors now, that 4pt. clearance is precious now more than ever ??????
So Mick has to go with him,, and just hope he does not get injured. GOOD LUCK .

This is such a shame,
as Hendo had upped his game
had become one of us,
going home may be a wrench
sitting on the bench
Joining ITFC might be a plus?

Hando had upped his game,
An injured Austrian we can't blame,
Too many loans,
And once again we get on the phones,
We are certainly not going to end up top,
We will be very lucky to avoid the drop....

All this conspiracy theory and anti West Ham stuff is just rubbish, as previously mentioned their reserve keeper is injured!
As for Scott Loach he is more than capable and let's not forget he was keeping Henderson on the bench before injury.

h32-I'm not living in cloud cuckoo-land.MM inherited a shambles of a club and has instilled a back-bone into the club.MM knew the score when he took Hendo on and i'm sure he has a plan B.Look at our results,MM will make the right choices.Keep grinding Mick,i for one really appreciate the way you and TC have turned my club around.
