Town Face Opposition for Judge
Saturday, 11th May 2013 09:19

Town are facing opposition from Blackburn Rovers and Derby County as well as Charlton Athletic for ex-Notts County winger Alan Judge’s signature. The 24-year-old, who began his career at Ewood Park, is out of contract this summer having told the Magpies he is moving on.

Blackburn are currently caretaker-managed by Gary Bowyer, the Irishman’s youth coach from his days at their academy, however, we understand that Judge is keen on a move to Portman Road.

Talks have taken place with Town but the Blues are yet to make a formal offer of a contract to the one-time Plymouth Argyle loanee.

Judge confirmed that he was leaving Notts County after a three-year spell earlier in the month in order to step up a level, revealing that he had a number of clubs interested in signing him.

I think Mick will be a positive factor, but let's not kid ourselves. Unless this is an out-of-the-ordinary young man, it will be down to the money - as usual.

If it is true he wants to join, he's good so what are we waiting for offer him a decent contract now before others do and we lose a signing yet again to a rival club

I like it bluebare but with our 'criminal' connections over past year or two maybe a bit ironic!

@Morgan.... Have to agree with you except for Derby County. I see them as the real threat. Potentially a bigger club than us,

Sorry I think you need to check out our previous gates as a successful side! Lock outs at 36000 in the days of the great Bobby Robson, regular 30000 capacity gates under George Burly. The population of the catchment area Ipswich town draws it's fans from has increased immensely since then, so given a new stand on Portman road & a free scoring successful side POTENTIALLY no way are they a BIGGER club than us.
Thank you.

I hate to disagree but I don't think that the attendances we had 30 odd years ago is going to influence this man's decision one iota.

Since the 2002/3 season (for when both teams were in the same division) Derby's average attendance has been greater than ours 7 out of the 10 seasons. They are rarely out of the top 5 in any one season. Thus my reasons for saying that POTENTIALLY they are a bigger club than ours.

Get a grip ,if there was no competition to get a player in that would be more worrying,''YOU CANT WIN EM ALL ''.Hopefully he will be persuaded to sign for us ,all WE can do is wait and see .I reckon MM will have more influence than PJ when it comes to players making decisions.KEEP CALM and FOLLOW TOWN .
