![]() Thursday, 13th Dec 2001 14:13 Wayne Brown has returned to Town after Wimbledon's attempt to take him on loan for the rest of the season was dashed. The Dons were told that only players under the age of 23 can go on loans of more than three months, the period the centre-half has so far spent with the Londoners. Dons manager Terry Burton had been keen to sign Brown permanently, but their financial situation has prevented this. The defender himself says he had a good time at Selhurst Park: "I really enjoyed my time at Wimbledon and would very much liked to have stayed but unfortunately Terry Burton's hands are tied. I have an outside chance of getting into the Ipswich team as they are not doing so well at the moment but I would rather play Division One football as I am looking to get a contract anywhere where I can get a regular place in the side. I was getting that at Wimbledon and it is a shame I have to leave but who knows, something may be sorted out in the future."
