Millwall Linked With Martin
Tuesday, 25th Jun 2013 17:14

Millwall are reported to be leading the chase to sign former Blues midfielder Lee Martin. The 26-year-old left Portman Road at the end of the season.

A number of other clubs are said to be interested in the one-time Manchester United man, who spent four years with the Blues.

Town offered Martin vastly reduced terms in May but the winger opted to move on and look for a new club.

Joining Millwall - who are at Portman Road on the second weekend of the new season - might suit Martin, who was brought up not far away in Bromley.

Theobald the only thing getting embarrassing is your constant sticking up for a player that the majority of town fans think didn't achieve that much here (hence the booing) and the fact you have to start name calling because others don't agree with you on a player released by the club ,Ferguson didn't play him in a league game ,any manager who had him on loan never tried to sign him ,Keane the only manager who did sign him loaned him out as he didn't think he was good enough ,Jewell brought him back and played him and took us to bottom of the championship .MM played him 20 times out of 34 games many as a sub so not as regular a choice as you make out .
Martin may go on to be championship player of the year next season and good luck to him ,personally I doubt it

oh dear surco you actually think you are in the majority.
Im a town supporter and support hard working players who try there best.
all you boo boys who in the end are in the minority are to the detriment of the club and in the end would not be missed.
what you state just shows mick would play him more often than he did not and usually if free from injury and suspension would play him.
charlton played him regulary and did not get the chance to buy him as he was recalled by jewell.
I am not name calling just pointing out simple facts.he was not released was he.
he opted to leave after turning down an offer from mick.
you seem to think mick offered him a deal just for a laugh.mick could have just said no deal on yer bike.
he did not do that though he put together a contract offer for lee so what your saying clearly means you do not trust micks judgment.
I will continue to support the players i think have tried there best and given your and a few others attitudes on here it wont be long before im standing up for your next chosen victim.
can we not stop this vile abuse and just support our players and when players leave wish them well and have a bit of respect

I have been a season ticket holder for more years than I care to remember and have never booed a Town player in my life and especially wouldn't for Martin ,but I can tell the difference between a good player and a bad player and do not have to think every player who puts a Town shirt on is a good player that is childish mentality . You are showing a lot more loyalty to Martin than he has to the club ? MM gave him a ridiculous low offer of a contract as a squad player ,as I have stated before if MM wanted him at the club he would be here . He was in and out of MMs team not a regular a bit part player a number of players played almost every game for MM .
And as I stated in my very first post I agree with your stand for getting behind players and don't believe Town fans pick victims to abuse , I think they show unhappiness at players on massive wages letting the club down without getting much back in return , and repeated sendings off is letting the club down .
Are people wrong to view opinions on Chopra because he is a Town player ,even though he has let the club down repeatedly ?

chopra has shown contempt for the club and i have stated before on other threads i believe chopra is an exceptoinal case.
it is not child like to feel that people trying hard and doing there best for the club should be supported--its just right and decent.
u say hed be here if mick wanted but if mick did not want him then why offer a contract at all why not just release him.
how do you know the terms and squad status of the contract offer?
i too feel i know the differance between a good and bad player and on this occassion the contract offer to lee leads me to think that mick agrees with me.
im not saying he is faultless or dosent make mistakes but he gave his all and was a decent player.
Unfortunately some town fans DO pick players to abuse ive seen it many times dan harding in paticular got a very rough ride but when he went to the saints the fans got behind him and he looked a different player.
I think we proberbly will never really agree on this issue but ultimately as town fans want the same thing which is to have a good season and I personally am feeling really optimistc. I apologise for any offence cause and hopefully we will be on these boards this time next year talking about premier league footie for town

Surco 72- Keane did not sign him as a winger. He played in the hole for Man Utd reserves and that's what position he signed to play for Ipswich.

@MickMillsTash - did you actually see Martins sending off at Forest?? Do you honestly believe flicking your arm out at someone to get them off you is a red card? Did you see what the guy did to him, stood all over the back of his legs re foul tackling him - the red card should have been he other way round. Put it this way he did even less than Beckham in France '98 & that red card was also a farce!

As for JustSpivvyChops saying he was the worst player ever, really? What about Ulrich Le Pen, Mark Fish, Stern John(?), does Lee Martin deserve to be ranked with them (and plenty of others) - don't be so daft man.

Michael Chopra - yes he has been a massive let down for us fans, but abuse him, boo him once he pulls on that Town shirt? - NEVER. If MM picks him this season, then the fans should respect both player & manager. He is still the most talented striker we have at PR, bar none & that's not being disrespectful to any of the other players that is just pure fact.
