The press has picked up on David Sheepshanks's programme comments regarding reasons why Town have underachieved this season. Most places seem to be picking up on the 'too many foreign players' aspect and headlining the story along those lines.

Sheepshanks actual comments were: "Every supporter is scratching their head [about why Town have faired les well this year] - no doubt offering plenty of partial explanations as to why and how we find our fortunes in such stark reversal - and yet, actually, at a complete loss to explain it. Arrogance, complacency, Europe went to their heads, Europe got in the way, too many games, unfortunate injuries to key players, too many overseas players signed to the detriment of the dressing-room spirit, and rotten luck. I think those cover most of the reasons I have heard and, regrettably, I think all are true to varying degrees. As much as we internally urged caution against it, I think last season did go to our heads a bit - human nature perhaps - but the campaign was so good that it was hard not to believe some of the praise. Europe was a distraction, a glorious one, unforgettable, worth it for a mediocre Premiership campaign perhaps - but never worth it for this."
