U21s Defeated at Charlton
Monday, 2nd Dec 2013 15:48 by James Ager

Kadell Daniel's second-half strike was enough for Charlton to beat Town's U21 side 1-0 at Sparrows Lane on Monday afternoon.

Alan Lee again played for Mark Kennedy's team but the Irishman was the only senior player involved, although David October captained the side with loan side Histon not in action over the weekend.

Town keeper Michael Crowe (pictured) produced two fine blocks within the first 20 minutes to keep the scores level; firstly denying Tobi Sho-Silva and then Karlan Ahearne-Grant soon after from one-on-one situations.

On 25 Irish winger Mark Timlin was felled in the box by Aaron Barnes but after dusting himself down, his penalty was well saved by Addicks keeper Dillon Phillips.

The game was a scrappy affair with few clear goalscoring chances, but the hosts won the game in the 58th minute when Daniel produced a cool finish to beat Crowe after Ahearne-Grant's cut back.

Ahearne-Grant blazed over from six yards when he should've hit the target and Amir Berkane cleared Harry Lennon's header off the line, but Town offered little threat going forward and were unable to find an equaliser.

Joe Robinson impressed at right-back and trialist Eoin Wearen, again playing at the heart of defence, had a solid game throughout.

U21s: Crowe, Robinson, October, Berkane, Sowumni, Wearen, Timlin (Doherty 84), M Clarke, Lee, Adekunle, Lawrence (Bishop 63). Unused: Marsden, Emmanuel, Willbye.
