Town Unchanged and Green on Bench
Saturday, 8th Feb 2014 14:06

Boss Mick McCarthy has named an unchanged side for today’s game at Barnsley.

New signing Paul Green is included amongst the subs, but striker Paul Taylor is not in the squad having been sent home by physio Matt Byard suffering with a tooth abscess.

Barnsley brought in Stephen Dawson and Jim O'Brien for the suspended Emmanuel Frimpong and Jacob Mellis.

Barnsley: Steele, Hunt, Ramage, Cranie, Dawson, O’Brien, Jennings, Shea, O’Grady, Proschwitz. Subs: Turner, Nyatanga, McCourt, Lawrence, Cywka, Pedersen, Woods.

Town: Gerken, Chambers, Berra, Smith, Cresswell, Tabb, Skuse, Hunt, Nouble, McGoldrick, Murphy. Subs: Loach, Mings, Richardson, Edwards, Wordsworth, Green, Anderson.

The Ipswich Star says
Taylor travelled with the squad, but was pictured by a Town supporter leaving Barnsley on the train a few hours ago. A club spokesman says the striker — who did not travel with the rest of the squad for a warm-weather training camp in Portugal this week — was sent home by the physio due to a tooth abscess.
Dubious, why wouldn't you want to go for a week in Portugal?

playing nouble in front of taylor is the sort of thing you do when you haqve no intention of playing proper football and just need a lump.
micks results are decent enough but the football is dire

Hope we get rid of this little scroat soon, terrible player with a suspect personal life and i suspect a terrible attitude also (a bit like chopra)GET RID ASAP the problem is noboby is going to give us anything for him will have to loan or give away/settle contract...p.s to all who rave about him and want him in the team look at his football league record 74 games 13 goals a goal every 5.69 games hardly prolific is he?why did we pay 1.5mil for this waster?

I would prefer a toothache than nuoble MM is wrong on our attacking issue ok if taylor is trouble than get rid and bring in a goalscorer from somewhere.Mick thinking on transfers is mind boggling to say the least with richardsson and green coming in.We so clearly need help for eddie its a no brainer, get this defencive setup out an give 6th a go

Mick, it is a damning enditement that Taylor isn't playing when Nouble is....it either questions your tactics or it is questioning the player.....and both are suspect!......come on Mick, spill the beans, let me believe you're not being a stubborn goat!
