McGoldrick Out for 10 Weeks
Monday, 17th Feb 2014 12:53

Town’s play-off hopes have been dealt a serious blow with 16-goal top scorer David McGoldrick ruled out for around 10 weeks - all but the final week of the season - with a knee injury. The 26-year-old suffered the problem in the closing minutes of Saturday’s 0-0 home draw with Blackpool.

“Didz [McGoldrick] has suffered a partial tear of the medial ligament in his right knee,” physio Matt Byard told the club website. “He had an MRI scan this morning and will be wearing a brace for the next six weeks.

“After that, you are looking at the rehabilitation of around four weeks, so in all we’d expect Didz to be out for 10 weeks, which obviously takes us up to the last week of the season.”

Byard says there is better news regarding keeper Dean Gerken, who missed Saturday’s match with a stiff neck, and midfielder Paul Green, who took a heavy knock.

“Gerks has a neck strain but it’s improved today and if that continues, he should be fit to train later in the week,” he added.

“Paul took a bad kick on Saturday but again he should be fine for later in the week."

Midfielder Luke Hyam was forced off in the early stages of Saturday's game with a hamstring problem.

Clint it's time you switched off championship manager, you've started confusing it with real life. Just put the game now and step away... Nice 'n slow. :)

Love it, as usual many assuming there is money available to just click fingers and go out and get another player. With falling attendences, despite the fact this is our nost successful season for about 5-6 years coupled with the fact we are in massive debt means I suspect we may have to manage with what we have. After all why should we assume ME will put his hand in his pocket yet again when fewer and fewer of us are? Not trying to be negative just having a realistic outlook.

I have posted a few times now on the Taylor issue regarding the structure of the transfer deal where I seem to recall it mentioned a sizable amount due to Peterborough on completion of a number of appearances - this is what may probably be influencing MM, if he moves him on in the summer then perhaps MM who must have budgeted for the this amount will allow Mick to spend it elsewhere.

Very bad news but always felt the playoffs were beyond, too often we did not bead teams at the lower end of the table or going through a bad-patch. There is an opportunity for others to make their mark between now and the end of the season, Murphy has scored a few too.
