Town keeper Andy Marshall says he thought Fabrizio Ravanelli was about to take Derby's penalty on Saturday and when Deon Burton stepped up he was surprised. Derby had controversially been awarded the penalty after Ravanelli had fallen to the ground whilst near Mark Venus.

Marshall said: "I actually thought Fabrizio Ravanelli was going to take it and when Deon Burton stood up to take it actually it threw me a little bit. I took a chance early and managed to react well enough to save the ball."

He says he's watched to see who takes penalties and how they take them: "You watch the games throughout the season, and try and remember who takes the penalties, where they put them and what foot they take them with."

The former Norwich keeper says the season was frustrating for him until he got his chance in the FA Cup game against Dagenham and Redbridge: "It's been very frustrating for myself. It's quite obvious there is a rivalry there because both Matteo and I want to be playing football. Matteo is a very talented goalkeeper and definitely one of the hardest competitors I have had to face in professional football. At the moment I am in the position of holding the shirt and playing the games and, subject to form, that's how it will hopefully be until the end of the season."

At one time Marshall was an England U21 keeper and tipped by some for full caps, something he says is currently a long way away: "The England thing at the moment is a distant dream. It's obviously something I would love to be involved with but it is just a case of staying in the Ipswich team for me at the moment."
