U15s Back to Winning Ways
Friday, 8th Aug 2014 12:04

Town’s U15s got back to winning ways at the Macron Galway Cup this morning via a 3-1 victory over Mexican side Chivas Guadalajara with Dan Muamba, Tristan Nydam and Charlie Brown netting the goals.

Previously the young Blues beat DC United 3-2, lost 4-2 to the Republic of Ireland and drew 0-0 with Israeli club Maccabi Haifa.

They complete their group fixtures with a game against Scunthorpe United this evening, while Saturday sees a final between the top two and play-offs for the other places.

Former Blues Kieron Dyer and Jason Dozzell are amongst the academy staff to have travelled to the tournament.

The competition, which is played at Salthill Devon’s Drom training facility, is widely considered one of the best youth tournaments in Europe.

The Blues won the Elite U15 Cup that they are competing in this year in 2007 and finished runners-up in 2010, while Josh Carson was the Player of the Tournament in 2008 when Town went out at the semi-final stage.

Meanwhile, Town's U18s are in friendly derby action on Saturday morning when Norwich City are the visitors to Playford Road (KO 11am).
