Nouble Joins Coventry On Loan
Monday, 1st Sep 2014 23:40

Town striker Frank Nouble has joined League One Coventry City on a half-season loan in a late unexpected deadline day deal. The 22-year-old, who had been made available by boss Mick McCarthy, will be with the Sky Blues until January 4th.

The switch was completed shortly before the transfer window closed at 11pm.

“I spoke to Frank a week or two back and told him that he was free to look elsewhere for his football, either on loan or on a permanent move,” McCarthy told the club site.

“He’s worked hard for us but we’ve got four strikers now and he’s seen other players come in.

"He wants to play games. That's what he needs, to be playing on a Saturday afternoon.”

Coventry boss Steven Pressley told their official site: "What you get with Frank is a quick, mobile, powerful striker and that is exactly what we are looking for.

"I spoke to Frank about what he wants out of a move to Coventry City and his ambition certainly aligns with my expectations and I'm looking forward to seeing the positive impact I believe his addition will bring.

"I'm certainly excited to see what he is capable of and now we find ourselves in a situation where we have a number of strikers all eager to claim a starting place in front of more than 20,000 City supporters at the Ricoh Arena on Friday [against Gillingham].”

Nouble, whose Town contract is up at the end of the season, added on Twitter: "Can't wait to get going on my loan at Coventry."

Meanwhile, according to the Daily Mail Town were asking £11 million for David McGoldrick from interested parties on deadline day and turned down £2.5 million plus Jonny Williams on loan until January from Crystal Palace for left-back Tyrone Mings.

IF the reports are true then that is very bad business! Cheers Frank.

Disappointed that Frank never really shone at ITFC as he Always gave 100% effort and for that I'm very grateful. Let's not forget he's still only 22 so hopefully it will work out for him at Coventry.

If they were willing to send us Williams as part of the deal then they are obviously open to the idea. Here's hoping something can be done.

Glad to see we have still got McGoldrick !!!!! BUT come Jan. if he has not extended his contract, what money will we get for him then ????? Probably no where near what was mentioned yesterday !!!! So let us hope that we can now have a good 4mths. starting with Millwall and Brighton,, and be up there amongst the top teams come January !!

Agree totally with GerkensBeard, Mings has been average at best and thinks he is better than he actually is, consistently out of position and slow on the turn.

2.5m when we only got 3.5m for Cressy? Absolute no brainer, and Parr a better full back already at the club. IF we also turned down Jonny until Jan which could well have been extended to end of season, that's an absolute joke.

I realise that anything printed in the Daily Mail must of course be true, but does anyone really believe that a Premiership club would offer £2.5 million, plus a player on loan, for a young player who has managed a grand total of 24 appearances, 13 of them as a substitute, in the Championship? And he's not even a guaranteed starter. And Palace let Parr come to us, rather than keep him. It's just not a believable story.

Poor judgement----no way is Dids worth £11m and we should have snapped £8m up if that was indeed offered.Mings----not so sure, young player with great potential and linked up really well with Henshall on Saturday and perhaps this was on Micks mind.I guess he must have some premier loans up his sleeve now that the window has closed.

Who remembers John O'Rourke going to Coventry? Hethought it would help his chances of playing for England!

As much as people moan about frank and pleased to see him go the bigger problem to me the fact this window we have let 3 strikers go on loan plus one forward minded midfielder and only replaced them with one striker with a worse goal scoring record than frank. Our squad was small before the season started our leading scorer is a defender our midfield can't score and mm says we are top 6 really!!!!!!

Hopefully he has the same impact at Cov that McGoldrick did 2 years ago.

Good luck Frank.

Was Clegg invited back to handle the McGoldrick and Mings deals. 11 million if true that's padded cell stuff.

Turning down the Mings / Jonny W deal seems crazy (if true). Good money and the creativity we are crying out for.

Most disappointing thing in these comments is the transposition of 'have' with 'of' really is annoyingly bad grammar.

Not to mention his other brother Rocky O'Rourke
Star of the kids TV show in the mid 70's
Was John, replaced by Frank Clarke, brother of Allan (of Leeds fame, stooping header)

Whether you think we should have taken the offer or not isn't it nice to be in a position now where we are able to turn down somewhere between 9 to 10.5m (depending on what report you read) for two players who cost us next to nothing?!

I genuinely thought ME would have snapped their hands off to take the money

Palace never offered anywhere near £2.5 million for Mings , that is the price tag we placed on him , so they purcahsed a premiership player for a lot less .
I see Murray a proven goalscorer in this league has gone to Reading on loan , when are we going to do any kind of business to improve our poor scoring record , only 6 teams in league have scored fewer goals so far and two of them have played us !!

Surco72 ............ just about sums it up well, but some will choose to overlook such fact.

As for Frank leaving, good luck and wish him well - down side is that a weak squad becomes even weaker, but therein lies a ready made excuse for some at some point I guess.
