Polish Keeper Set for Trial
Wednesday, 29th Oct 2014 15:13

Polish keeper Grzegorz Kleemann, 17, is joining the Blues on trial next week, his club Odra Opole have revealed.

Kleemann, who will join up with the academy on Monday, played junior football with MKS Strzelce Opolskie before joining his current club’s youth ranks in 2011.

The 6ft 2½in tall keeper has already broken into the first team, making 12 appearances for the Polish fourth tier club.

Meanwhile, academy striker Jonny Smith is joining Torquay United on loan. The second-year scholar, a Northern Ireland U17 international, has had an injury-hit time with the Blues since joining as a full-time scholar in the summer of 2013.

Expect Bart will look after his fellow countryman.

None of the players we sign these days seem to get a look in. I know this one is probably more for the future, mind. We seem to prefer solid, steady players who train well and are good pros to players who can win us games.

No harm in having a look is there. I think Bart's been unlucky not to start a league game this season yet. Gerken has been much more consistent so far than last season but he still really doesn't fill me with confidence.
