Hunt to Return to Leeds
Monday, 29th Dec 2014 19:00

Loanee striker Noel Hunt will return to parent club Leeds following Tuesday’s home game against Charlton with no agreement in place regarding an extension to the Irishman’s spell at Portman Road.

“Noel will be leaving us after the Charlton game,” Town boss Mick McCarthy told the club site.

“His loan was due up on Saturday but with the FA Cup game at Southampton pushed back until the Sunday, he now can’t play in that game.

“There is nothing in place between the two clubs to extend the deal. There is no agreement there so Noel will have to go back to Leeds and do something else.”

Hunt, the younger brother of winger Stephen, has made three sub appearances for the Blues since signing on loan a month ago with his only goal his dramatic debut strike in the away game against tomorrow’s opponents Charlton.

The Ireland international previously indicated that he would like to join the Blues on a permanent basis believing he has no future at Elland Road.

I will always remember him for that late winner at Charlton.

We have cover all over the pitch, except up front. An injury to McGoldrick or Murphy could derail our promotion bid, so it would be sensible to bring in a third quality striker if we can. Easier said than done, I know.

I'd quite like to see a midfielder come in someone who can pull the strings a little or a dead ball specialist, what about the boy Lockhart from Leicester (I think that's his name) doesn't really get a mention in the team anymore or he might be injured but thought he was quality for them last year in ther promotion team, also a striker such as McLean from Wigan or a assombalonga (I know rubbish spelling lol) he's on the bench at Forrest but in my opinion a quality striker and worth a bit as a back up or in a three man attack

...don't want to pour cold water on this one but if I am right woody and Taylor's loans are up and presumably be back so their wages back on our books mean other players have to go...it could be as simple as that .MM big challenge will then be how do you keep two players who will understandably be a tad upset in coming back to a club that sees them as surplus , dressing room disharmony !!!...but n Mock we trust COYB...let's make it our year!!!

Don't think that will be a worry mate as as I've been looking through all the posts I think they already know there not in MM plans and I think training with the u21s and hopefully putting themselves in the shop window for a different club will be there main objective plus I think the team spirit is so high at present I don't think it will phase the current squad in regards of the having little hissey fits. I can see Taylor going to p'bourogh and woody going back to the u's anyway quite quickly as I think MM will want that done sooner rather than later

I have a funny feeling that Noel Hunt may re-surface some time in January?

I would like to see him return a good sub to bring on bags of energy and a bit of a handful in the box but thats only if the price is right for us,but looking at the clear out I think we might have guys coming in as we will attract players because of were we are in the table which is an amazing job done by everyone at our club.

Unfortunately couldn't kick on after his wonder debut but seems a down to earth guy so hopefully he'll find a good club and find a new home for his career. That goal at Charlton must be 99% of Town fans best moment of the season so far. I didn't stop screaming until about 8pm!

Yeah great goal at Charlton but like quite a few others making up the squad, simply not going to be good enough for a top 2 push..personally I don't think Sammon,Bajner or Ambrose are good enough either now..we need to be looking at another striker incase God forbid anything happens to M or M.

I'd rather us be bringing in up and coming players from the championship/league 1 & 2 in january than journeymen who are probably well past their best..we've got plenty of experience,we probably could do with a bit more pace going forward.

Was never gonna be permanent. He was just here as cover until January so mick could do some proper business. Feel for the guy because he's now gotta go back to Leeds after saying how much he wanted to leave them, especially with that chairman of they're's. Can see mick getting a new striker in on loan with a view to buying him if we get promoted. Also I like the look of that young lad for Peterborough called Washington I think his name is. Would be a brilliant purchase in my opinion

He'll be back , Noel is a Mick type of player and fits in great with the rest of the boys . May be not as a starter but he would be expected to push for a first team place
