Not the best match I have ever seen but town never looked in danger of getting beaten by a Charlton. After the mauling of Brentford on Boxing Day this was a more workman like performance with Smith and Berra gobbling up everything in the air and Chambers and Parr sticking to their defensive duties which meant they were not seen in attacking positions as much as we have come to expect until later in the second half.
Tabb and Anderson worked tirelessly as usual closing down and Scuse just sat in the middle. I felt sorry for Teddy Bishop as he was completely shut out by Charlton and unable to get on the ball like he normally does but he stuck to his defensive duties and contributed to the overall team performance.
Murphy was (in my opinion) epic once again and never gave up on anything - he seems to win every header he goes for and is always back covering when town are under pressure.
Final word for McGoldrick - once again worked hard could have had a hat-trick. I'm still not convinced he is 100% fit but so pleased for him to get a goal from open play as were the rest of the team.
Derby will be a different proposition but for now I am happy with where we are and how the year has ended.

One of the worse performances I,ve seen at Portman Road for some time, but somehow we managed to win. There were times when the team was just not clicking, and in came the ouff ball. The mid-field in particular, known as out weaker team section, was particularly off-colour. That all said, what a year! There's no detracting from the fantastic job Mick and JC are doing. After all those years of frustration, devestation and sheer poor management, how refreshing it is now seeing our team playing so well (normally) and impressively occupying an automatic promotion spot in the Championship! Well done lads, and more importantly, well done Mick and JC. Come on you Blues, in 2015!

Charlton are a good Championship team. They play on the floor and have plenty of threats. Their 3-5-2 gave us problems. Bishop was less effectve as he was outnumbered. Tabb and Anderson couldn't get really into the game.
When we changed to 4-3-3 we ran them absolutely ragged. Tabb was fantastic.
Murphy's work ethic underpins his success. One many occasions he tracked back and snubbed out threats.
Didz is a Prem player, without doubt. He could have scored 5, fluffing 2 two chances and kissing the frame on three occasions.
Berra has the almost perfect game. He won every header, tackled with sublime timing and ferocity. Smith was solid, made a very amusing professional foul for his booking. He was beaten and just waited for the player to turn and he literally rugby tackled him to the floor!
We beat a good team with aplomb. It cold have been seven.
