Leicester Striker Wood Linked Wednesday, 31st Dec 2014 12:43 Town are reported to be one of a number of Championship clubs interested in Leicester striker Chris Wood.
According to the Daily Mirror AFC Bournemouth, Wolves and the Blues are all eyeing the 23-year-old, who is Tommy Smith’s room-mate when they are on international duty with New Zealand. The Championship-leading Cherries would appear to be the frontrunners.
Wood is yet to start for the Foxes since their promotion to the Premier League, having scored eight goals last season, four in the Championship, four in the Capital One Cup.
Born in Auckland, Wood started his British career with West Brom, spending time out on loan with Barnsley, Brighton, Birmingham, Bristol City, Millwall and Leicester before joining the Foxes permanently for £2 million in January 2013.
Speaking on Monday, Town boss Mick McCarthy said he was in no hurry to add to his squad during the January transfer window, believing it would be difficult to improve on the players already at his disposal.
However, the Blues would currently appear to be short of an experienced striker, although it seems likely that Noel Hunt will rejoin Town at some stage during January, the Irishman’s current loan from Leeds having come to an end following yesterday’s 3-0 home victory over Charlton.

Would be a good addition. The top teams have plenty of striking options. Although our front two are arguably the best in the league, our back ups are a long way from being good enough for a promotion chasing team. Add a goal scoring central midfielder as well and I would feel very confident of a top two finish!

Would be a good player to add to the squad. However, what about getting Darren Bent on loan instead?

Not played that much first team football over the last year...can score goals but I think I'd rather have him on loan for the rest of the season rather than a permanent move.

I dont think Wood is a bad shout .!!..How about Danny Graham?? Sunderland now have him back from loan so could assume he might be available , maybe needs a run of games so could be a down side but he knows how to score at this level.

Take him all day long - always thought of him to be a Wickham type player who needs a run to get going, but could - on form - be frightening... Please, please, please let this be one we wrap up!

skinnyman, I think the only reason there have been no wiziwig streams for the last couple of games is that there has been no Football League Show or Sky coverage. At least, that's what I read somewhere. I'm hopeing it will come back for the Southampton game on the assumption that the goals will be shown on a TV highlights programme. Fingers crossed....

purplealien just a little bit about it. In addition to this Spain is also working on a new criminal justice "law", which they expect to be approved somewhere in 2015. In this new criminal law owners of websites who link to other websites, and who get complaints, may face 6 years in jail. All together this has made us decide to stop with Wiziwig at the end of 2014, before the start of the new year, to be fully safe and to see how things will work out. We will now focus on new things, maybe we will return one day but for now we would like to say once again thank you for your trust in Wiziwig. Despite this bad message we still wish everyone all the best in 2015! Thanks for visiting Wiziwig and for your loyalty. As said above already, time will tell if we return in the future.

IMO Wood is a good Championship striker, has improved a lot over the past 18 months or so and I think he will continue to improve IF he starts playing regularly. Would also suit the style of play that MM has going on.

Bent could be a non starter apparently Pardew wants him at Palace.

Would welcome this. I don't understand the Sammon hatred though, he's a good powerful option who runs his heart out.

We have a quality goal getter in Murphy so why sign someone for the bench. Or is it a swap deal for mcgoldrick plus some cash? He is not even the same type of player as mcgoldrick. We have a hard working team, full of players on top of their game. Why upset it with a player who has hardly played in the last four months? Keep the team together if possible. Add n.hunt who is more of a utility man. And offer ambrose till the end of season. Sammon does a lot of hard ugly work for the team albeit from the bench. We have goal scorers then he comes on to close the games out. Won't see j.williams again if teddy bishop continues his form. The club seems like a family club again unlike under the clegg era. Long may it continue.

As myself and others have mentioned Doyle from Chesterfield a much better bet, young and desperate to learn and playing regularly and scoring goals, 18 so far, one more than Smurf.

I'd like to see a pacey striker come in.

My bet would be on Kevin Doyle coming in purely because he's irith :-) Would love to see Bent back but I'm not sure he's MMs type of player and expensive I think Chris wood is a good player a handful always does well at championship level but I feel he will end up at either Bournemouth or Derby I feel hunt will be back at the back end of jan when Leeds get worried they are stuck with him Whoever he gets in I'm sure they will do the business

Did someone on here say Woods is not not prolific? Rubbish! He was banging them in for Millwall. I would take him tomorrow, providing it is not at the expense of McG. He would be a super signing. We Defo need another top striker in & he fits the bill. As much as I would like to see Bent back here & not got to any promotion rivals, it could really upset the apple cart & I don't think Mick would go for him. He is too lazy in terms of work rate (not like when he was down here before), which doesn't fit with Micks Ethos & he is also on silly money - something that might upset the squad - Mick won't allow that to happen either.

Eoin Doyles is algedly valued at £2 million chesterfield, out our price range I would say. According to the current Bun Bent is going to cost Derby £18k per week, lets hope is about as oific England were under Steve Mac whilst he's thre
