McCarthy Set to Make Changes
Friday, 2nd Jan 2015 12:17

Boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed he will make changes to his regular XI for Sunday’s FA Cup third round tie at Southampton.

The Blues manager says he’ll give some of his fringe players a chance against the Premier League Saints, who he watched defeat Arsenal 2-0 yesterday.

“Don’t be surprised if there are a few changes to the side, we need to freshen things up,” he told the club site.

“We have got players who are trying to get in the side and they need game time.

"We need to get minutes on the pitch into their legs. Whoever plays though, we are going down there to win the game.”

Town will be taking 5,500 fans to St Mary’s - the largest ever away following at Southampton's current home - with the game a complete sell-out.

Perhaps Murph and McGoldrick will each get one half. I expect Gerks, Mings, Hyam and Bru to start.

Dont think we will see David McGoldrick Sunday as is on 4 bookings & a 5th will mean a suspension..Reckon that was why he tried to get his self booked with that crude attempt at tackling the charlton player in front of the dug out in the 2nd half tuesday evening

Everyone who is voicing the selection of Jack Marriott. Do you not realise he is currently on loan at another club...?

I want to see Henshall, Bru, Hyam, Stewart (if fit), Bajner and Clarke all start. Excellent opportunity to play all of them and give them some game time.

Would like to see Cameron Stewart play.
The town faithful will be able to see what he can bring to the team.

No surprise. A keeper change (confirmed) one change at the back, Hyam for Skuse and possibly one of Tabb or Anderson to be rested. Also, probably only one of Murphy or McGoldrick will play. 5 changes I reckon!

Living in Poole I don't get to many games but I got my tickets early for this one.

To be fair, we all knew it wouldn't be the best team when the clubs agreed to a tenner a ticket..... But with the squad we have this year in still looking forward to a great game with 5499 others..... Gonna be loud

AND WE'RE GONNA BE PROUD

Would be good to see the first team play as Koeman is playing his stongest team to see how far we need to go if we are promoted. Having seen both a few times this year, there is a gulf, but if Sheff Utd can do it why can't Ipswich.
