Sereni Goes Home
Sereni Goes Home
Wednesday, 13th Feb 2002 10:18

As per rumours circulating since the weekend unhappy Town keeper Matteo Sereni has returned to Italy, ahead of the players' scheduled time off.

Town manager George Burley is refusing to comment on Sereni's disappearance, but TWTD understands that the Town boss was less than impressed with Sereni's recent outbursts in the press, particularly the implication that Andy Marshall was not his peer as a keeper. His disappearance is unlikely to have helped his mood.

The rest of the Town squad have a few days off starting today, with the exception of Jim Magilton and Matt Holland who are away with Northern Ireland and Ireland respectively.

Last week Sereni said he would look to leave Town if he hadn't got his place back by the end of the season. A return to the side looks increasingly unlikely if he continues to behave in the manner that he is presently.
