Matt Holland was involved in the second half as Ireland beat Russia 2-0 in Dublin. Mick McCarthy fielded two sides in the match which saw goals from Millwall's Steven Reid and Robbie Keane.

Jim Magilton was in the starting line-up as Northern Ireland lost 4-1 to Poland in Limassol, a game witnessed by 221 people. The Ulstermen's goal came form skipper Steve Lomas.
