Co-Op Stand Home to Family Areas
Tuesday, 10th Mar 2015 14:54

Portman Road’s family areas will all be in the East of England Co-Operative Stand from next season.

The move will see activities and entertainment laid on for younger fans and families on the Fieldturf behind the stand on a more regular basis.

Currently blocks T, T2, U, U2 and U3 in the Cobbold Stand are designated family areas but this will no longer be the case next season.

The club has written to all affected season ticket holders in those sections and is working with them on relocating them to the Co-Op Stand for next season.

Families and junior fans who want to remain in the Cobbold Stand can do so if they wish, however those areas will no longer be priced as a family area.

Meanwhile, Town have announced that children under the age of five will now only be permitted to sit in the upper tiers of the ground for safety reasons, due to balls flying into the lower tiers during games.

McCarthy shouldn't have told the fans to F off but at the same time, he's got the same moany idiots sat behind him hurling abuse at him whenever we're not winning, so you can sympathise a little. The whole moving kids around because balls are flying around is a bit strange though. I started going to watch ITFC when I was 4 years old and I never got hit by a ball at any ground or ever saw any other kid hit either.

For heaven sake lay off our Manager who has done a fantastic job on a shoestring budget. The bloke has performed miracles and you berate him because of his pure frustration. Lets face it we all have a moan when at the game and some fans probably swear in frustration when things are not going well but to keep chipping away at the behaviour of our Manager is just plain daft. He is frustrated and passionate as well.

Mick McCarthy has every right to swear back at those who have been throwing fowl & abusive language at him during and after the match. If parents with children in the area in question are upset by this why don't they tell those parents that are gobbing off to MM to shut up. If Mick's not hearing nothing then he won't be swearing at any fans will he or is it you are afraid to say anything in case you get a good slapping? In my opinion Mick you're doing a brilliant job with TC and don't worry about those behind you, I think they have short memories of how bad we were with our previous two managers.

I think McCarthy does this because he feels that he knows best, and like the late Mr Clough has no time for people who dare question his decisions.Brian once said he listens to what people have to say,and then does what he wants.
From this Yorkshiremans attitude at press conferences and even the AGM he has little time for peoples opinions other than his own,and does swear a lot anyway.

thebeat - If the people in the SBR are moaning about not being next to the away fans like oscarwhiting then it is simple for them to move next to them in the AR stand. Why should all the fans in the Cobbold next to SBR move to accommodate? Perhaps a few moving into the AR will spread the noise around the ground.
In addition to that what makes somebody standing in the SBR stand MORE loyal Town supporter than somebody (who in addition is paying the club more money to watch their team) sitting in the Cobbold?

Paddy39 ............. so, because we are 'not as bad as we were' - it gives MM the right to tell people to F--- Off - that is effectively what you are saying.

The thinking of some people .......... ??????

In my book - people in 'authority' should set examples to those who aren't - for obvious reasons.

osborne1nil any Town fan knows the North stand has always been the place where the most loyal and passionate fans of the club have congregated. The away fans should never have been moved to the other end. Usual over reaction by the police trying to nullify the atmosphere to make their jobs easier.

thebeart-I am pleased to hear that ALL of the loyal fans in SBR Lower will be going to Middlesbrough on saturday along with us less loyal fans from other parts of the ground.
Should help us to generate a good atmosphere.

the beat - absolute rubbish. There are plenty of Town fans who are just as passionate about ITFC and don't sit in the SBR. I agree that the most noise comes from the SBR and I applaud that but that doesn't make a more loyal fan. You are judging most loyal by most noise but those that follow Town to all home and away games irrespective of where they sit in my eyes are most loyal and have stuck with Town through thick and thin over many years (including Keane) for their lifetime!!!

Look round the ground next time we are on a bad run and the gate drops. More empty seats appear in the Co op and especially The Cobbold stand. The lower SBR remains the same. They are the hardcore of the club
