McCarthy Changes Entire XI at Old Trafford
Wednesday, 23rd Sep 2015 19:10

Town boss Mick McCarthy has changed his entire XI for this evening’s Capital One Cup third round tie against Manchester United.

McCarthy had indicated that he planned to field a much-changed side with Saturday’s Championship game at home to Bristol City his priority.

Bartosz Bialkowski is in goal with Jonny Parr making his first start of the season at left-back and Josh Emmanuel at right-back

Recent signing Piotr Malarczyk makes his full Town debut at the centre of the defence alongside Josh Yorwerth.

In midfield, Kevin Bru partners Giles Coke in the centre with Jay Tabb on the left and Tommy Oar making his Town debut on the right. Daryl Murphy, who skippers, and David McGoldrick are up front.

There is no Dean Gerken on the bench with the keeper having suffered ankle and groin injuries during Friday’s 1-1 draw with Birmingham.

In contrast to Town’s side, Manchester United name a very strong line-up including Wayne Rooney, Bastian Schweinsteiger, David de Gea and Juan Mata, although recent signing Anthony Martial is on the bench.

Manchester United: De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Blind, Young, Schweinsteiger, Herrera, Mata, Fellaini, Pereira, Rooney. Subs: Romero, Darmian, Jones, Carrick, Schneiderlin, Memphis, Martial.

Town: Bialkowski, Emmanuel, Parr, Malarczyk, Yorwerth, Coke, Bru, Oar, Tabb, Murphy, McGoldrick. Subs: Chambers, Maitland-Niles, Pitman, Sears, Kenlock, Crowe, Touré. Referee: Simon Hooper (Wiltshire).

Best of luck tonight lads!...can't see any sort of an upset if that's the starting 11 of Man Utd!!...what will cheese our supporters of will be if we fail to beat Bristol City on Saturday after this team selection.

........ a heavy defeat (should it happen) - will do much more harm than good for the inexperienced players.

So much for those who say: 'good experience for all 11' - that will ONLY be the case in the event of a decent result - otherwise (potentially) mentally destroying.

That's the reality of it.

As it's a relatively early round I can't see United going 'Gung ho' to thrash us...more like likely a 'comfortable' win for them is the most likely outcome and IF they score a few early goals then maybe a foot of the pedal mentality might creep in (hopefully - he said).

Hang your head in shame McCarthy. Same team that finished Brum game should of started. Micky Mouse mess around could have waited for Bristol. Every God in the world will not save us tonight from annihilation. So hope im wrong but fear a high digit score.

Well well well who would've thunked it. 5-0 down by 30 mins 7-0 9-0 written all over it. Have some faith please will you doubters. Why shouldn't the players that got us there have the chance to play there? Yes we got beat but not embarrassed and if we get a good win Saturday then you'll all be saying what a master stroke it was. What's that old saying about pleasing some of the people.
