Dozzell Wins Cap as England U17s Claim Top Spot Sunday, 4th Oct 2015 18:13 Academy midfielder Andre Dozzell won his sixth cap as England’s U17s claimed top spot in their European Championship qualifying group via a 1-1 draw with hosts Portugal this afternoon. Dozzell, 16, played the full 80 minutes, as he did in England’s two previous matches, an 8-0 win against San Marino and a 5-0 victory over Armenia in which he scored the opening goal, his second at U17 level. Blues keeper Nick Hayes, also 16, was again an unused sub and didn’t add to his two caps during the Portugal trip. Both England and Portugal had already qualified for the elite stage of qualifying in March having taken maximum points from their first two games. England won the group on goal difference. The 16-team European Championship finals are being staged in Azerbaijan in May.
