Town have some of the highest ticket prices in the Championship, according to this year’s BBC Sport Price of Football survey.

The Blues’ cheapest 2015/16 season ticket is the third most expensive at £411 (if bought before the early bird deadline) behind only Hull City (£531) and Brighton (£465) and 24 per cent above the division’s average.

At £829 Town’s most expensive season ticket is 42 per cent above the average and the second-highest priced behind Fulham (£839).

Regarding matchday prices, the Blues’ cheapest ticket, £23.50, is 12 per cent above the league average and the most expensive, £45.50, is 24 per cent above the average.

In a statement Town’s media manager Steve Pearce defended the club’s pricing: “We froze our matchday ticket prices for this season for 99 per cent of our supporters.

“Adult season tickets in the lower stands around the ground work out at less than £18 for a ticket to watch the 23 Championship games.

“It’s clear that supporters have picked up on the value of a season ticket because our sales are up 15.2 per cent year on year, while our matchday ticket sales are also up [by 6.72 per cent]. This takes into account that we had a gate of over 25,000 for the Norwich match at the start of last season.

“The higher price matchday tickets quoted are mainly for a Grade A game and we’ve not had a Grade A game this season and won’t have one before Christmas at least.

“There is also no mention of the £10 season ticket for our under-11s which has been in place for a number of years.

“It must be one of the most competitive season ticket prices in the country. We were asked to supply that information but the BBC have not used it.”

Westy added 22:01 - Oct 15 £10 entry for certain games has deterred former Season Ticket holders from renewing - I give you the seat numbers of four of them that did not renew three years ago they were so angry that the Club were letting people in for that when they had paid full price and considerably in advance. Those seats are still vacant.
