![]() Monday, 11th Mar 2002 11:47 Academy youngster Chris Hogg was in the England U17 side which qualified for the European Championships with a 4-0 win over Lithuania at Bristol Rovers' Memorial Ground yesterday. Earlier in the week the U17s had beaten Scotland 3-1 at Ashton Gate to put themselves on the verge of qualification for the championships, which start in Denmark on April 27th. Manager Dick Bate was impressed with his side: "I felt today was a great performance from the team. This was a new experience for them, playing against a physically stonger side, who were putting a lot of men behind the ball. Some of the quality of our football was excellent, and again I was pleased with our finishing, with all four goals taken superbly well. As I have said before, these players are still learning the game. Today they played as a real team unit, and I think every single player who was involved in the squad for these two games can be very proud of themselves."
