40 Points Burley's Target
40 Points Burley's Target

George Burley says he is looking at 40 points as the total Town have to aim for by the end of the season. He says that although Wedneday's game is important, no one will be relegated by Thursday morning.

The Town boss said: "We have 10 matches left and our target is 40 points. Nothing can be won or lost at Blackburn, but if we win we can push clear of them. If they win they can catch up with us.

"Blackburn have big resources and plenty of quality. They have very good attacking players, Matt Jansen and Andy Cole being especially dangerous.

"I think Cole is a better player now than when he scored five against us at Old Trafford in 1995. His years with Manchester United will have improved him and he hasn't lost any of his hunger for goals.

"We have lost our last three games. Liverpool can beat anyone on their day, we were poor against Southampton but worked hard at Leeds but ended second best on a very difficult night.

"We have a group of players who can complete against anyone in the belief they can win. That's how they had a winning run of seven games out of nine."

Blackburn's home record is not the best with their win against Aston Villa last week only their second at Ewood since beating West Ham 7-1 back in October.

They are without defender Craig Short who is suspended while Andy Cole starts his ban after the Town match.

New signing Yordi could get a start while Keith Gillespie is set to be kept out of the side by David Dunn. New Turkish signing Hakan Unsal is likely to be in the side after impressing last week.
