Yorwerth Wins U21 Cap in Welsh Victory

Central defender Josh Yorwerth played the full 90 minutes as the Wales U21s his a last-gasp winner to beat Armenia 2-1 in a Euro 2017 qualifier at Bangor University Stadium this afternoon.

Bristol Rovers striker Ellis Harrison put Wales in front in the ninth minute form the penalty spot, the Armenians equalised on 59 but Crewe’s Harry Wilson netted the winning goal in injury time to claim the three points.

Yorwerth, 20, who is currently on loan with Crawley, was winning his fourth cap for the side coached by ex-Blues midfielder Geraint Williams.

Town keeper Michael Crowe - who celebrates his 20th birthday today - was an unused sub and is still looking to win his first U21 cap.

The Welsh youngsters have another qualifier against Romania at The Racecourse, Wrexham on Tuesday.

Elsewhere, Blues winger Dylan Connolly has been named amongst the subs for the Republic of Ireland U21s for their Euro 2017 qualifier against Lithuania in Vilnius this evening (KO 4.30pm UK time).

If he is involved, former Shelbourne man Connolly, 20, will win his ninth Republic of Ireland U21 cap. A legitimate live stream of this evening's game is available here.

The Irish youngsters also face Norway in a friendly at the RSC, Waterford on Tuesday.
