Martijn Reuser has been speaking about Town's current plight on his website. The out of favour Dutchman says he thinks tonight's opponents ought to be higher in the table than they are.

The ex-Ajax man said: "Unfortunately, three defeats have put us right back in the danger zone, and next up is a six-pointer with Blackburn that was re-arranged thanks to their successful trip to Cardiff the other week.

"I really don't know why they are struggling like they are, having seen them destroy Villa last week.

"We know only too well ourselves that it doesn't matter how well you are playing if you're not picking up points, and that has been the story for Graeme Souness' promoted side at the same time as we were staging our own recovery.

"We have to rediscover that form, it's as simple as that, and that's more important than whether I am playing or not. I wasn't playing well against Southampton when I was taken off and wasn't even on the bench for the Leeds game, but I have to swallow the disappointment, accept the manager's decision and work hard to get back in."

But Reuser is heartened by the return to action last week of his room-mate Fabian Wilnis: "Injuries have combined to give Fabian Wilnis the opposite experience. He may have been given a free transfer but he has finally been given the chance he has been waiting for so long. It goes to show that just because he has been out of favour for a couple of months doesn't mean the boss is not going to use you any more!

"Leeds was a big blow and we did not get any breaks. We all know that if you make a mistake as a goalkeeper you are usually punished, but the first goal was a very rare error from our keeper. He has earned his place, done a great job this season, and nobody is pointing the finger at Andy.

"I also thought he was unlucky on the collision that gave Leeds a penalty. It was a harsh decision as I don't think Smith could have reached the ball anyway. Personally it is now a matter of bouncing back and regaining my first-team place."
