Town Submit Plans for 3G Pitch
Tuesday, 16th Feb 2016 10:34

Town have made a planning application for a “UEFA standard 2* 3G artificial surface pitch” at their Playford Road training ground.

The proposed new pitch would be surrounded by five-metre stop netting on all four sides and illuminated by floodlights.

It’s understood that an artificial pitch is a requirement for all academies at Category Two and above. The application can be found on Suffolk Coastal District Council’s website here.

Homer, reading the above article,it would appear that club has to have one to comply with cat 2.
It would appear from itfcjoe's post that it would also appear to be ok for Cat1 if we ever get it.

I wonder if this has also been put on the back burner as the club cant afford it.Wouldn' t be in FFP though.

I begin to wonder whether utterances about being a small club punching above our weight which is emanating from PR is to reduce our expectations.

Last time I looked, couldn't find Evans Empires Accounts, poss as domiciled abroad;and although clubs financial year ends 30 June AGM not til Autumn.

It could be that Marcus is asset rich;but cash poor.In other words may be a bit short of readies. The mansion he is supposed to be renovating in West Country, could be a drain on finances, and he doesn't want to sell his yacht or various properties around the world to finance a football team to the tune of £13m p.a under the relaxed FFP rules this season

Just speculating

Fit a low roof over the pitches so the players have to pass and not hoof. I'd have thought the money they are looking to invest should be spent on strenghtening the crap playing squad or lowering the season tickets in accordance with entertainment value.

Waste of time. Money should have been spent on PLAYERS.

cloddyseedbed, the only way to stop em hoofing would be to swap the football for a medicine ball.

A lovely new surface so your feet are comfortable slogging a ball 70 yards up in the air.

Everyone was moaning about the lack of vision at the club when we didn't get Cat 1 status for the academy.

Now we are planning to upgrade the facilities so that we get the artificial pitch we need for Cat 1 and THEY ARE STILL MOANING.

To those above who are bemoaning the moaning, please note from reading article;that Evans hasn't any choice as this has now become a requirement for Cat2.It does appear though that the club are taking the opportunity to have pitch that also satisfies Cat1

5 m high fencing? I think 15 m high would be more like it, or put a ceiling on it, that'll stop hoof ball!! Good to see money being put in to the club, will help the youth lads there and looks like 3G/4G will take over soon , lots of clubs looking to change to it on main pitch, I think Sudbury has it? As for cancer , talk of problems in USA but pretty much every thing and anything can give u cancer can't it? Just gotta enjoy yourself and what happens ,happens😃
