Jay Tabb, Larsen Touré, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Luke Varney are all set to feature for the U21s when they take on Bristol City at Playford Road this afternoon (KO 1pm).

Also in Mark Kennedy’s side will be Chris Smith, Jacob Marsden, James Blanchfield and Shane McLoughlin, four of the six youngsters recently offered professional deals by the Blues. Admittance is free.

We saw against Portsmouth that just putting 11 players on the pitch does not make a team. Also - it is quite concerning that when we do put first teamers in the U21 they seldom shine like stars, do they - why not ???
