Bart: Mick's Still the Man for Town
Friday, 15th Apr 2016 12:13 by Dave Gooderham

Bartosz Bialkowski has moved to reassure any doubters over whether Mick McCarthy is the right man to lead Ipswich Town next season.

The Blues have slipped away from the play-off race in recent weeks and this, coupled with the style of play for large parts of the season, has cast doubts over the direction of the club.

Fans seem divided where the blame lies — with some questioning McCarthy, who remains among the favourites for the vacant Aston Villa job, and others pointing the finger of blame at owner Marcus Evans.

The problems were heightened this week with the news that season ticket sales were down almost seven per cent on the same point a year ago, but Bialkowski backed his manager to bring about a change in form.

“He is a really experienced manager and he knows what he is doing,” Bialkowski said. “He has had great success in that division [the Championship].

“There is nothing to worry about for him. It is just us. In the past few games, we have created chances but we couldn’t really score.

“If we had scored a few more goals, it might be a different story. We are all on the pitch and it is totally up to us.”

Going into another must-win match, away to Sheffield Wednesday who occupy the final play-off spot and sit eight points above Ipswich, Bialkowski understandably was not giving up all hope.

He said: “Obviously we are disappointed with the last few matches but mathematically it is still possible.

“Sheffield Wednesday might think they are in the play-offs already without a worry. We just need to go there and try and beat them and see how it goes.”

I see in the Saturday press Town are being linked with 33 year old Karl Henry. Is this progression for the club,ok,I know it's only paper talk, but do we really need to be linked with players like this when we are having trouble selling season tickets.!!!!

If some fans get their way and they get the manager of their dreams, you may get what's known in the financial markets as a "dead cat bounce".In other words,a bump in the upward direction for a short period of time. Then you're back with the dead cat.MM,TC & ME have done well.ITFC is disappointing people because they're not in the play-off's and not in the top two.Doesn't that show progress from 3 years back?Surely, yes!Keep believing.
