Mings Linked With Town Loan Return
Friday, 1st Jul 2016 12:30

Former Town left-back Tyrone Mings is being linked with a return to the Blues on loan as he continues his recovery from the double cruciate knee ligament injury which ended his first season in the Premier League with AFC Bournemouth prematurely.

The 23-year-old suffered the injury minutes into his top flight debut for the Cherries following his £8 million move from the Blues last summer, having previously featured in a Capital One Cup tie.

Mings is now closing in on his return to action and, according to talkSPORT, the Blues could be among the leading candidates to take him on loan with Bournemouth understood to be willing to send him out for a spell while he gets back to full fitness.

Speculation that Mings could be returning to Portman Road began circulating on the TWTD Forum earlier in the week but the link has been dismissed by Town sources with Jonas Knudsen the Blues’ first choice left-back and youngster Myles Kenlock having been challenged to push the Danish international for his place by manager Mick McCarthy.

Mings made 49 starts and 15 sub appearances for the Blues, scoring one goal, having been signed from non-league Chippenham Town for £10,000 in December 2012.

Guys. Realistically this ain't gunna happen but the guy is streets ahead of what we have. Knudsen is the second worst full back in the division. You only have to look at our other flank to find number 1. If we go into this season with same back 4 as last we are screwed. So many easy pointless goals given away by all of them and with no wingers and lack of goals we will struggle. Would defo take Mings on loan but can't see it happenings.

I see no point. It would only be a short term loan with the main purpose of him getting fit for Bournemouth. After the loan finishes, what will we do? Recall one of our own players, who would rightly be annoyed losing their place to a short term loanee in the first place. For me, Knudsen improved significantly and with Kenlock as back up, left defence is well and truly covered.

Prebbs I don't know why you "support" our club. Does anything positive, constructive or remotely optimistic EVER fly off your keyboard? We have the two worst fullbacks in the league according to you but we finished seventh. Realistically Scum have a better chance of promotion than us - go and support them please!

Not too bothered either way to be honest and don't believe Eddie Howe will let him go for a long loan period. I think the negativity regarding Knudsen is unjust. Yes he struggled early on but has boundless energy and can get back quickly if caught upfield when attacking . Agree with Jas he improved immensely as the season wore on and is nailed on left back for me next season with Kenlock as a good back up.

Pragmatic.... Do one !!! If you're willing to accept abject performances, shocking hoofball and awful management by playing dross players out of position and out of form that's your look out. Don't tell me what to do or what opinion to have. I'm entitled to it just like you or anyone else. After 35 years of season ticket holding I have not renewed to to the inept manager MD and owner that our great club has. They are comfortable in this division do not want promotion or they would all be shown up as the average at best they are so until it changes I am voting with my feet along with 17% of last years loyal. People like you who tell others what to think and believe are the real problem. You settle for mediocrity and we will stay where we are. Good luck watching the same dross as last year now go away and leave me alone !!!

Not sure I have told you to do anything. ASKED you to go if all you can do is criticise. A look through your history indicates that.

For the season yes but not for three or four months to get him fit for Bournemouth, all loan players irrespective of position stop the youngsters coming into the side

prebbs007 added 19:12 - Jul 1
Agree Kesgrave but think it's our manager who stops youngsters getting in unless they are outstandingly good !!! Pragmatic you told me to go and support Norwich. You're pathetic not pragmatic at all. I tell it how it is and not dress it up and proper supporters don't bury their head in the sand and hope all will be ok. ITFC is a business only to our owner. A place to avoid tax through all his profit making groups. The only way a business recognises change of product is required is when sales drop so those line you who talk utter dross are keeping the status quo as it is. This group will not achieve promotion. Not one of our back 4 would bet in boro or Burnley team, no one bar possibly Bish from our midfield would get even close. Didz is our only potential forward player with premier league quality but dinosaur will still play donkey Murphy ahead of him based on his only good season ever 2 years ago. Is all that pragmatic enough for you or don't you like realism just carry on in your dream world !!! Idiot.

Prebbs thanks for judging my intelligence and personality based on one piece on here. The bottom line is that virtually every comment you make is negative and full of bile. Football just seems to make you very unhappy. Last season was poor in many ways, we all know that. To say we have the worst two fullbacks in the division is a very disputable point.

If Ipswich make you so unhappy I suggested that you find a team that makes you happier. Based over the past, and possibly next, few years you might get more than you do watching us online as you have given up your ST. No need to reply but your incessant moaning gets a bit wearing.

Bore off. Your intelligence is clear !! What you don't like is people who have an opinion different to yours. You would make a good politician making everyone think all is rosy !! We did not come 7th because of the performance of our full backs that's for certain. We came 7th because of their lack of ability. You are welcome to your opinion and as you display such intelligence you will understand that changing my team is never going to happen. As I say a business that loses its customers is a dying business and obviously all of us who gave not renewed should according to me IQ go and support someone else. While I have paid the wages of the dross put out in front of my I have been hugely over charged for the product I received. If that happened in a restaurant you would refuse to pay, if that happened with your car you would return it to your dealer in football all you can do is not renew. Sorry if you are not of high enough intellect to understand that and think I should therefore support someone else. Sort of comment I would expect from someone without thought based reasoned factual based argument. Well done though.

Agree with Garv. Why? Knudsen was coming on well at the end of last year and we have Kenlock as cover. Why stunt their progress to get another teams player fit.
No thanks

Prebbs - you're entitled to your opinion and some of the points you make are reasonable but just cos people have a different view to you doesn't make them an idiot or of low intelligence.

prebbs007 added 13:01 - Jul 2
Dozzells you are correct. Neither does it require myself to be told to go and support Norwich. That is just the ultimate of stupidity as it is clearly never going to happen hence my qustioning of intelligence levels. I firmly believe we have two shocking full backs. Teams know how to play against us. If you attack our right side especially in the channel between chambers and smith (again as both are out of position) you have a lit of success. It's been the same for 2 seasons yet MM won't change it. Chambers is a liability at RB smith is a danger at RCB. Hopefully Webster makes a difference. Knudsen is so regularly out of position and his delivery from good positions is woefully short of promotion seeking ability. I stick strongly with my belief that the defence is what will stop us succeeding even though I agree with many others that we need improvement in midfield ( let's hope Bish and Andre have big seasons) and up front where Murphy is miles past his best, pitman only seems to score as a sub and Sears didn't score since November (also played out of position)

I would love to be positive as some head in the sand supporters seem to be but I fear the same again from a manager who refuses to see our deficiencies and a style that is easy to stop and players who out of position are easy to beat.

😢😢😢

If I was so p*ssed off with the product at a restaurant or car repair place I would take my custom elsewhere. I wouldn't have a history of moaning about them.

Prebbs I agree to a point. Chambers is undoubtedly better in the middle. He's an ok fullback and has got better but I agree that if we are to move forward and improve we need an out and out right back and I dont really understand MM 's reluctance to get one in. To say Chambers is one of the worst in the division though is IMO incorrect.
I was a huge critic of Knudsen at the start of the year and felt his positioning and general defending were to be blunt pretty awful.
However I think he came on leaps and bounds in the last three months and if he progresses at the same right could turn out to be a good signing. ( As long as we don't get Mings back and knock his confidence again) .
Last year was very poor but any team would have missed Didz, Bishop and Fraser.
MM has shown he likes to play with those players when they are fit so let's hope for extended runs from our creative players. Lastly to label Murphy a donkey is totally inaccurate, he has shown at the Euros that he can do a great job in the centre forward role and hopefully this year he will hit the ground running.

Great post Dozzells. We can agree to disagree on chambers. Yes Knudsen got better, don't think it was possible for him to get worse. As for Murphy no one will convince me he is ever going to repeat his season 14-15. You say he did well at euros, 30 caps zero goals. If we had a 25 goal a season poacher I could understand playing him in MM's hoofball team but to have him as our main goal threat is frightening. 10 goals last season in 34 games (pitman 10 in 24 starts, Sears 6 in 44, Didz 4 in 9, Frazer 4 in 15). We need much better return than he can give us. Douglas was 5th top scorer. So yes we have to improve defensively, we have to create more and we have to score more. Basically we need a big step up across the pitch hence the huge frustration when MM says what a great bunch he has and how he can't get better. I maintain the owner MD and manager are all comfortable at this level and investing to get promotion would show them all up to be average at best. I want more for my club and refused to renew until a change is made either in direction, personnel or investment. Sorry if that means I'm a judas and am supposed to go up the road according to IQ genius Pragmatic. I just want us to show ambition like others in our division. I understand parachute payments etc but Blackburn signing players, Sheff wed sign fletcher and bid for McCormack we are getting left mikes behind yet our owner is worth upwards of £750mill so I don't believe we CANT compete. We choose not to. You won't get promoted on the cheap, I don't want us wasting tens of millions but fees if 2-300k won't cut it !!!

Prebbs I have not claimed to be a genius. It just appears that everything about Town makes you unhappy. Your history supports that. I suggested you go up the road because over the past few years they have played more attractive football, been more active in the market and had more success. Seeing all that might make you happier - something you deserve. For wanting your happiness you have aggressively called me an idiot amongst other things. I have told you to do nothing you don't want, I have suggested you do something else.

Please don't distort what I have said in order to slag me off.

prebbs007 added 22:31 - Jul 2
No distortion just fact. To suggest an Ipswich fan should go and support Norwich because they have played more attractive football spent more money won more games or won a world war is preposterous. And as you said let others judge our difference of opinion. Take a look back at the posts think you have far more - marks than myself. I'm a realist, you told me to go up the road because you didn't agree with my opinion. That is never going to happen to ANY Ipswich fan so for me I found that comment idiotic. I actually don't care a jot what you say or do I know my loyalties and the fact I have chosen not to renew is to try to bring about change not to lower my support. The club will probably not care about my one season ticket but I would feel hypocritical if I didn't act on my feelings and hope Marcus will react. Don't try to cloud your dispute of my opinions by saying you want my happiness that is again a silly comment as you obviously don't.
