Town Linked With Blackburn Winger Bennett Sunday, 10th Jul 2016 14:10 Town are being linked with a move for Blackburn Rovers winger Elliott Bennett.
According to The Sun, the Blues are interested in the 27-year-old having missed out on the signing of former loanee Liam Feeney, who joined Blackburn earlier this summer.
Telford-born Bennett started his career at Wolves during Mick McCarthy’s time as manager at Molineux. Having made only two League Cup starts and after spending time on loan at Crewe Alexandra and Bury, Bennett moved on to Brighton in the summer of 2009.
In his second season with the Seagulls, 2010/11, the 5ft 9in tall wideman helped them to the League One title and was named in the PFA Team of the Year.
His performances for Albion led to a move to then-Premier League Norwich City that summer, where he made 43 starts and 36 sub appearances, scoring three goals, and also spent time on loan back at Brighton and at Bristol City.
In January, his former Norwich boss Paul Lambert — who left Blackburn at the end of last season - took him to Ewood Park, where he signed a contract which runs until 2018.
Bennett qualifies to play international football for Jamaica via his paternal grandparents and in 2015 he was called up for the first time but is yet to win a cap.

In last 110 games he has scored 4 goals. We need wingers, but we also need wingers who can score as well. Ex Norwich may I suspect be an issue for some. Andy Marshall springs to mind.

27 years old and has already effectively been to 8 clubs (Wolves, Crewe, Bristol C, Brighton, Norwich, Brighton, Bristol C & Blackburn) doesn't strike me as someone of the required quality to help a team make a push for promotion.

He has a contract till 2018. It's obviously just idol speculation from the newspaper. I really don't rate this player either and agree with jas0999

I know a few budgies who never rated him, so I'll be surprised if it happens but he has worked with MM before!

Blackburn and Norwich reject, only scored 4 goals in well over 100 games, not the fastest winger and not much of an end product...... definitely a MM signing in the making like COKE TOURE DOUGLAS TABBY ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzx

It's a RUMOUR. Worry if it approaches reality. Until then it is not time to go on about "Mick's mates" or "lack of ambition."

an ex scummer.....who is dross ( why should that be a shock to anyone?)..... NO THANKS. Not good enough for our squad. Lets face it, when was any scum player good enough for us?
Guru_of_Ipswich added 16:10 - Jul 10
Stats are misleading, I think he started more games at right back/wing back in the premier for the scum than as an actual winger. He divided Norwich fans, some felt he didn't fulfil his potential, yet some took into consideration that he worked hard in a different position. Would probably think this won't come off as Blackburn will probably want a fee.

Am I the only one that lost interest in this article the moment I read "according to the Sun"

If he has only just moved there it seems unlikely he would leave unless he or his family haven't settled there? Can't see us paying much if any fee for him so doubt this will happen

WANTED 2 wingers to play for a proffessional team in the championship. Must be able to run around a lot and help fullbacks defend. No end product necessary and start's certainly not guaranteed. No signing on fee preferred and low wages paid.

79 appearances for Norwich, yet I don't remember having heard of him. Again, it feels like we are shopping in the bargain basement. We need midfielders who can score goals and they will almost certainly cost money. Wingers tend to be better when they are younger, so are there no 20-year-olds we can get from the lower leagues for a few 100K?

Ex-Norwich wouldn't go down well, I can still here the boo's ringing out for Andy Marshall!
thatdamgood89 added 19:51 - Jul 10
Nobody had a single issue with who Marshall played for before...it was the fact he single handily was the reason we went down...Big Fat Joe's first day in the job was just spent making sure the clown never played again.
