Town coach Bryan Hamilton has backed George Burley to become a better manager becuase of this season's poor Premiership showing. The former Town midfielder has made few statements to the press since rejoining the club towards the end of last year but feels that the Town manager deserves his support.

Hamilton said: "I feel the time is right to speak out in support of someone who is obsessed with Ipswich Town and who will become a better manager as a result of all this.

"George is one of the hardest working managers I've ever worked with, and I've certainly worked with a few.

"George has done as absolutely fantastic job at this club. Over his time in charge there have been so many changes for the better.

"He has shown himself to be very astute in the transfer market and he has brought on young players in an excellent way. He has an incredible feeling for the club and at this time he knows that changes may have to be made.

"He wants so desperately to put the club in the right direction again. And I will give him my unstinting support, as indeed will the other members of staff.

"His love for the club runs deeper than anyone can imagine. He will come out of this difficult time a stronger man and a stronger person. I have no doubt whatsoever about that."

Hamilton added that there was more than one reason for Town's poor season and that Town need a change of luck which he hopes they will get as the season reaches its end with the games against Arsenal, Middlesbrough, Manchester United and Liverpool.
