Bishop Set to Miss Blackburn Trip But Webster Back and Williams and McGoldrick Close in on Return Thursday, 13th Oct 2016 14:04 Town boss Mick McCarthy says Teddy Bishop will probably miss Saturday’s trip to Blackburn after breaking his nose again in training. Better news for the Blues is that Adam Webster is over his hamstring injury and Jonny Williams and David McGoldrick are closing in on a return to action.
“Teddy Bishop broke his nose again this morning, that’s another bit of good news,” McCarthy said.
“He’ll probably miss the game. I’ve just said to him, ‘You can play, can’t you? You can be involved’.
“I think it was Besty went to kick a ball and he’s put his head in there and he’s just clipped his nose and he’s broken it again.
“He was just getting back, he looked like he could be starting and he’s bust his bugle again, as we say.”
Bishop previously broke his nose in the 0-0 home draw with Aston Villa but came on as a sub in the 1-0 defeat to Huddersfield at Portman Road prior to the international break.
Regarding centre-half Webster, who has missed the last two matches with a hamstring problem, McCarthy added: “He started very well so for him to do his hamstring the way he did and then miss games has been disappointing for him, and for all of us.
"He’s a good player and he’s played well for us and he’s going to get better and better, so to have him back is a real boost.”
McCarthy says Williams isn’t too far away from a return after the ankle injury he suffered during pre-season with parent club Crystal Palace.
“He’s just about there,” he said. “I’ve just walked off training with him. He’d been saying that starting might be different, but I said to him, ‘If you start and have 60 minutes and you’re shattered after that and you have to come off, what do you think?’.
“I think he’s feeling a lot more confident about that now. Tuesday, Saturday to have Jonny involved when he’s fully right. He’s just about there and I think it’s convincing him that he can finally start.”
Williams is in the squad for the trip to Blackburn but may be more likely to make his fourth Town debut when the Blues face Burton at Portman Road on Tuesday.
McGoldrick, who has also been out with an ankle injury, is not too far behind Williams: “Didzy’s been great, he’s trained very, very well today. He’s trained all week, he’s not looking like he’s having any problems with it or any other subsequent problems from anything else.
“But we need him fully fit before he starts. We’ve just had two weeks off, then we’ve got a helluva programme, we go Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday.
“He really needs a game, he really needs an U23s game. I guess as a sub [for the first team] maybe. I think for him and for his own confidence he needs to have that 60 or 70 minutes in a game first.
“But it’s great to see him back on the training ground, we can see what we’ve been missing.
“We were talking about Newcastle before that he’d been back to be involved in. Rotherham we could be looking at him playing.”
Luke Hyam has undergone a knee operation and will be out of action for two months, while Tommy Smith is making the expected progress after his back surgery. Brett Pitman remains sidelined with his ankle injury.

I will continue to be negative until McCarthy stops playing negatively! He has no respect for Town fans, thus I have now , no respect for him! If I come over bitter, it's because I am bitter. McCarthy, you can fool all the the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you can't fool all the people all the time!

Can't believe the Douglas interview I just heard on the radio. Reckons we should get off McCarths back because he knows what he is doing. Says we should blame the players for the poor results and performances. Well we do blame the players Douglas and his mate Excuse in particular but McCarthy picks them and let's them get away with playing like they do. I hope he leaves Joss in at right back and drops one of the two from midfield in favour of Williams Bishop or Connor, so we have some kind of attacking threat. Lose this one and that will define our season just 11 games in.

“Teddy Bishop broke his nose again this morning, that's another bit of good news,” McCarthy said. I preusme Mick saying "Good News" is that he can go with the dynamic trio of ExScuse, Dynamo Douglass and BRUce Forsyth

If and when we get Didzy, williams and bish backit will be interesting to see if the diplodocus can actually set up to play in the proper manner or just hump it as always. My fear is we will never have these three for any length of time due to injury. As much as i like Hyam, what was he thinking of giving him a two year deal with an option of another year if we want it!! He only needs to get out the shower and hes injured and its wages we could use on another player to prevent different class Dougie playing. The next three games are going to be interesting to see if he keeps his job. COYB

Even with Bish out we could still start with this team Saturday MM Bart Emmanuel, Webster, Berta Knudsen Ward , Skuse ,Lawrence , Grant Sears , Best But I bet we don't as Chambo , Douglas and Bru will all start with one up top for MM to get his 0-0 and be delighted

So Chambers back at right back. Any excuse not to play Bishop. I'm still reeling from the classic Conor's good and unlucky that he's being kept out of the team by the form of Bru, Skuse, Douglas. Might as well have flushed my £1000 for two STs straight down the toilet.

Webster back = Chambers back at RB, Bishop back fit = Bench, McGoldrick back fit = a few games before another injury. Like it or not folks this is not far from the truth.

Oldegold I totally agree with your reasons for not going, I stopped a year ago and sad to say I am getting to the stage that I may never return. I am not a person who booed and got angry at fans who continually picked on a scapegoat player. Players can have an off day occasionally, the manager has the ultimate responsibility for choosing the team and if he perseveres with out of form players he should carry the can. Doing the same thing over and over is ridiculous if it is unsuccessful.

We need a new striker, and we need one now. I'm so desperate at this stage that I'd welcome Macheda, Maierhofer: basically any free transfer who can play that target man role. With no target man we look poor up front. Don't misunderstand me, I don't rate these players, but they are certainly better in that target man role than anyone we have atm. Best up front on his own is proving ineffective.

soon to have the trio back we all want in the town starting line up....oh no wait haha Webster being back is brilliant as he was outstanding against villa..however does that mean it'll automatically be chambers back to RB and Emmanuel back to the bench?? i truly hope not I think Josh has earned his place
