Bishop Out With Ankle Injury as Illness Hits McCarthy and Squad
Monday, 12th Dec 2016 13:32

Midfielder Teddy Bishop has been ruled out for two to four weeks with an ankle ligament injury but central defender Christophe Berra is expected to be OK despite picking up a knock, manager Mick McCarthy has revealed, while a number of other players and the Blues boss himself have suffered from illness during the preparations for Tuesday’s game at Birmingham.

“He’s twisted his ankle and he won’t be travelling, he’s done his ankle ligaments and he’ll be out for two to four weeks,” McCarthy said regarding Bishop, who came on as a late sub in the 1-1 draw with Cardiff at the weekend. “Christophe got a bang, but he’s alright, Christophe is fine.”

The Town manager says he and several members of his squad have been suffering with illness ahead of the trip to Birmingham.

“I’m hoping I’m going to be fit and well for it,” he said. “I’m considerably better today than I was yesterday.

“There are a few that have got sniffles and coughs and colds. Gerks went home yesterday, he was sick.

""“Wardy was feeling it a bit, I think he had a bit of a dodgy tummy and what have you.

"Skusey, a cough and a cold. Not injuries but whatever it is that’s going around the place. Hopefully they’ll all be OK.”

The visit to St Andrew’s is Town’s second game of three in eight days and McCarthy says he is considering whether to make changes, “I’ll see.”

Tommy Smith (back) is set to return to training towards the end of the month following his operation, while Luke Hyam and Giles Coke (both knee) are also continuing their rehab after surgery and Paul Digby is also out with a knee problem.

Meanwhile, Preston have confirmed the signing of Dundalk winger Daryl Horgan, a player the Blues boss recently watched in action before deciding not to take his interest any further.

Sad for Bishop, I wonder what reason he will find not to play Williams now

I think this is McCarthy trying to play mind games a bit like Cardiff before Saturdays game, one players got a sniffle another a cough and Wardy a dicky tummy - lets face it none of them are 'that' poorly. Birmingham will probably report it as we did with Cardiff on Friday or maybe It's Micks latest pre match excuse.

I am confident now, on Saturday we saw how a struggling Championship team improved remarkedly for having their squad completely flued up away from home - all we need now is to go down to 10 men!!!

Why keep talking about the word CREATIVITY ? ......... McCarthy is capable, and consistently does, remove every essence of the word from any player who remotely shows it.

A 'BLOKE' is what he looks for in every position - far more important than flair and creativity - in his book.

He won't change whatever - Dinosaur or Maestro ? - I have my opinion, just like many others.

If we were top of the league we wouldn't have illnesses and injuries I am certain. Our squad is weak in skill and weak in character

@micky_1560
Well dear Micky I'm obviously beyond ecstatic and very proud to somehow being able to irritate you soooo and now also amuse you soooo (your "LOL" indicates so ) all at the very same time?! :-) ... and accomplishing this quite complicated feat merely by basically just omitting a few extra pressings of the "ENTER" key?! :-)

BTW do you by any chance have ANYTHING remotely constructive, relevant or just funny to say at all about Ipswich Town FC and it's current troublesome "State of Affairs" ... that is besides these here now 3! (out an apparent total of 4 meager posts!) personal attacks on another poster.... and personal attacks about something as trivial & banal as typos or lack of easier-for-the-old-eye spacings & paragraphs???

Ohhhh before I forget: Regarding "PERIOD":

I seriously wonder if you have ever opened such an immensely informative thing as an advanced dictionary or the like??? :-)

Obviously we all know that "period" CAN be used to signal a punctuation mark and thus is used chiefly, repeat chiefly, to mark the end of a declarative sentence and such! ---- and aye I plea guilty to occasionally leaving out a few here in my not infrequent hurry (sometimes though I actually have made spacings appear as in ex. breaking things up in paragraphs on my various internet capable "machinery" but for some odd formatting-related reason it don't always appear quite so here on TWTD after I've pressed the send button?!

HOWEVER dear @micky_1560 most specifically have you ever heard of such a thing as an "interjection"??? And subsequently how such a kinky little thingie like "period", with its multiple meanings and multiple uses, can in fact not only be used conforming to it's noun or adjective definitions but also fairly commonly be used as an interjection??? For instance when used as a phrase / word by a speaker or writer to indicate that a decision is irrevocable or that a point just made is no longer really discussable or henceforth at least no longer open for discussion by others???
Well OF COURSE you have oh Learned One!!! :-) LOL

We all know that difference class will start & if Birmingham score then that will be that. Douglas who I feel has suffered with a lethargic illness all season has no pace or skill what so ever

I have a dream, albeit a pipe one. Our invisible owner will sell the club to someone who actually wants an interest in it.
His first actions will be with to terminate the contracts of MM and his hopeless sidekick drinking partner TC. Sorry, but neither are fit for purpose. Thank you for what you have done and good luck in your future careers.
The new manager appointed by new owner will, with immediate effect, terminate the contracts of the proper blokes Chambers (aka "Skip"), Douglas (aka Bolt, Farrah, etc) and Skuse (aka sideways/backwards)
"Players" who will also have said contracts terminated will include, but not necessarily confined to, Reg" Varney (not considered good enough last May but has obviously improved), the Danish bloke who is our answer to Ian Hutchison/ Rory Delap (except I don't recall us scoring from one of his throws), and, not forgetting those two maestro signings Digby & Coke.
From above list, I conclude that we have ended up with cr1p that were not wanted by there present clubs, and nobody else would entertain employing them.

Help, I think I'm waking up

We'd all be so much happier not hearing what managers have to say! Ever! Its never interesting or insightful. We get sucked into a vortex of disdain. I wish we could go back to the days when we just watched football and debated it amongst ourselves. Thats one advantage of moving abroad actually, not watching relentless nothingness on sky sports news. Just a thought.

MM ill? It's no wonder, all the c### spewing out of his gob, I'd be scheduling him in for an endoscopy. As for the rest, maybe if they were motivated to play proper football they wouldn't be calling in sick.

MicksZzzTatics, the lol was to signify to not take it too seriously, but I do find your posts difficult to read. Must be because I'm not as intellectual as you.
(3 posters agreed with me though)

I only have 4 posts because for as long as I can remember, My log-in was messed up and setting up a new one also proved unsuccessful.
As to having anything to say about our beloved club, I'm as mistified and frustrated as everyone else.

Having supported the club since the middle 70's, seen them win 2 major trophies, I've seen the best under Sir Bobby and the worst under Duncan.
So now, do we get rid of Mick Mac?
His selections are baffling, his lack of creativity and shackling the players frustrating.
But we have no money!

So at the moment, I just don't know, but like all Town supporters, I want to see us play attractive and attacking football.
For that we need pace, a blend of youngsters and experience.
Mick Mac ain't going to play youngsters, only 30 year old something's without pace who don't want to move ahead of the ball...

Looking forward to your next period... 😄

Any Championship manager who has paid as much as MM to get Williams here on loan and not play him when the team he picks has had so many poor results and creates little can't have a brain. What the hell is going on, MM says Williams can't play in the middle and Williams has come out and said it's his preferred position? Is MM being defiant for a reason and is Williams saying that to make a point? Whatever the reason it does not make sense. We've already sent one player back to his club this year as he according to MM had no chance of getting in the team. Why then are we hanging onto Williams if he has no chance of MM playing him, when he so clearly is needed to create and make things happen? If a player has no chance of playing and he's on loan send him back to save the money and let the player get games elsewhere. It's not the players fault MM has management issue's.

Nah sincerely it really was fairly "well played" (as a fulfilling response to someone, in this instance Zzzilly me, trying to juuust slightly serious unnerve & corner you :-) .... Mickey!

So hence I say: Let's move on!, and moreover call a genuine truce, eh??? (No no, not the "Korean War" type of truce though!)

And thus if I agree to try a little harder to insert MORE spacings in my "alleged" sometimes all-out 'Psilocybin Trip 'sparked written so called rantings :-) ... also even should I suddenly be really pressed for time as like for example when I'm in the middle of some intricate travelings (which happens weekly) and/or else with me having become aware of rather pressing work-related stuff "beeping" that I better need to attend to.... immediately!!!, as quite obvious this here latter unfortunate thing sometimes darn well also happen right in the middle of me trying to complete typing something truly jaw-droppingly awesome here or elsewhere in Cyberspace!

....And THEN in return you "lot" must please & and ever so kindly just cut me a little extra slack on my "presentation grades" lol, as additionally and from a pure technically pov at LEAST one of my numerous "handheld" devices i.e. my oldest and most beloved Blackberry is also apparently having itself some sort of odd formatting issue / incompatibility with connecting to TWTD pages in regard to how things look on the device (WITH spacings & paragraphs!) and how it then might sometimes appear all compressed on TWTD after I press the send button, as also alluded to before???

Deal??? (Just hit the up-vote button will do nicely here, thank you! :-) wink wink)

Top marks for owning up that you have one though...

Ditto the up-vote and a very real 😄Wink wink as we are all in this together.
