Leeds Midfielder Close to Joining Blues on Loan
Saturday, 21st Jan 2017 14:49

Town are close to signing Leeds United midfielder Toumani Diagouraga on loan for the remainder of the season, according to reports in Yorkshire.

According to BBC West Yorkshire Sport the 29-year-old is set to join the Blues but the deal is yet to be finalised.

Born in Paris of Malian descent, Diagouraga played youth football with Paris St Germain before moving on to Watford, where he made a handful of appearances and spent time on loan with Swindon, Rotherham and Hereford, who he joined on a permanent basis in 2008.

Spells with Peterborough, Brentford and Portsmouth (loan) followed, before he joined Leeds last January.

The 6ft 2in tall defensive midfielder is surplus to requirements at Elland Road having made only one appearance this season on the opening day and had been close to a permanent move to Rotherham, but that deal broke down this week.

I don't think ME has any interest in owning anything other than a mid table team run on scraps that he can milk for tax evasion.

Surplus to requirements at Leeds then under this seasons boss Gary Monk but should we be pleased we're looking at a fellow Championship club for a 1/2 season loan?

He won't be replacing Skuse any time in the holding role in midfield as don't forget 'Skusey' is Premiership class, so as Mick likes to play 2 in that position it will be alongside the forementioned.

Decent player but would much rather perm than loan.

Absolutely pointless! I hate loans! Got to be said, these are the type of players he would get, journeymen on the cheap! No ambition, no investment, no direction! This starts from the top! All very well, ME bunging the club 6m a season to keep them afloat, but this club desperately need more!

In the 4 years that Mick has been at the club, how many players has he signed that another club has wanted? Without trawling through the full list, I can only think of Webster, Sears and Wordsworth (not counting non league signings eg Mings, Moore). The rest have been loans, free transfers, free agents or players bought that haven't been able to make the first team elsewhere. Diagouraga is another unwanted journeyman.

GIve the guy a chance! Sometimes a player can go stale at a club and then thrive when given the opportunity. It's up to the scouts to find players like that.
