Bishop Plays an Hour in U23s Defeat at Liverpool
Sunday, 22nd Jan 2017 15:41

Midfielder Teddy Bishop played the first hour as Town’s U23s were beaten 3-0 by their Liverpool counterparts in a Premier League Cup tie at Tranmere’s Prenton Park this afternoon.

Paulo Alves put the Reds in front on 19, Rhian Brewster added the second in the 28th minute and Ben Woodburn completed the scoring nine minutes from time.

Bishop, 20, is on the way back from the ankle injury which he suffered in training which has kept him out of action since the Cardiff game on December 10th.

Liverpool U23s: Grabara, Randall, Gomez, Matip (Williams 60), Moreno (Whelan 60), Stewart, Alves, Woodburn, Wilson, Ojo, Brewster (Virtue 76). Unused: Kelleher, Masterson.

Town U23s: Crowe, Woolfenden, Fowler (c), Robinson, Webber, Blanchfield, McDonnell, Bishop (Nydam 60), Patterson, Morris, McKendry (Folami 65). Unused: Hayes, McGavin, Ndaba.

Re the Kenlock tweet, it was sent by a hoax account, not the real Myles. The Mick/Marcus meeting stuff is similarly nonsense.

Slightly off topic, but was born in the Prenton area of Birkenhead. Probably not many people have been! However, been gone too long to have any attachment to the place. PR my second home,in any case, within seconds I walked into the place 2 years ago. :)

What concerns me most about the club is the training regime. What skills are being practised on the training ground? No disrespect to Spence, but he's been 8 months out of the game and has superb first touch, close control, likes to take opposition players on and varies his passes. He also showed guts and commitment and didn't want to lose. He looked much better than any of our usual crew, who have been solidly putting hours on in training and in games. Sears isn't looking as good as he did, I didn't see Bishop In this game but he seems more one-dimensional, Chambers has devolved and even Dozzell seems to be going backwards. What is going on in training? And why do most of our players look knackered after 15 mins? Is our squad big enough and should it be rotated more?
