Deadline Day Signing!
Deadline Day Signing!

Town moved to add to their squad on deadline day bringing in Ajax attacking midfielder Martijn Reuser.

The 25-year-old, who plays on either flank or in the centre of midfield, spent two seasons on loan at Vitesse Arnhem after not making it to the Ajax first team regularly. At Vitesse, however, he impressed and made the Dutch bench for a game against Peru in 1998. If all goes well the move could end up being permanent.

Adam Tanner has joined Peterborough on a non-contract basis until the end of the season.

Town have a few injury worries ahead of Saturday's game with Fulham. Fabian Wilnis limped off after 27 minutes and Mark Venus had a recurrence of his ankle trouble. Both are rated as extremely doubtful for Saturday.

Mick Stockwell and Wayne Brown are their likely replacements. John McGreal is also still a doubt with his calf problem, whilst Marcus Stewart is still a couple of weeks away from getting back into the side.

George Burley has been offered a new four-year deal with the club. Chairman David Sheepshanks said: "The board is unanimously convinced that George is the right man to lead Ipswich Town Football Club in the short, medium and long term.

"Whether we go up this season or not, we are sure that George's leadership will enable us to reach our goals. He is highly respected as a man and a manager both locally and nationally. In my view the club is in exceptional hands."

Not the view of many on the TWTD Message Board and those who wrote to us after Sunday's game.

George said of his new offer: "I am very proud the club has offered me a long-term deal. Ever since I stopped playing, it was my dream to come back and manage Ipswich.

"We've enjoyed a successful five years, but I will only be satisfied when I take Ipswich into the Premiership. Every year we have got closer, producing some of the country's best young players, and playing good attractive football."
