Jackson: I'll Always Be Extremely Proud to Have Played For This Brilliant Football Club
Monday, 3rd Jun 2024 17:31

Departing striker Kayden Jackson says he’ll always be extremely proud to have played for Town, the 30-year-old’s release having been announced this afternoon.

Jackson joined the Blues from Accrington Stanley for £1.6 million under Paul Hurst in the summer of 2018 and had a topsy-turvy time at Portman Road, having been out of the picture and seemingly on his way out of the club under Paul Lambert and Paul Cook before becoming an important member of Kieran McKenna’s squad, albeit with most of his appearances having come off the bench.

Overall, the 30-year-old forward made exactly 100 starts and 99 sub appearances for the club, scoring 28 goals.

“When I signed in 2018, I didn’t know what was to come and while it’s certainly been a journey, I will always be extremely proud to have played for this brilliant football club,” he wrote in a statement released through the club.

“The last two seasons in particular have been truly special and being able to play a part in getting this club promoted from League One to the Premier League is something I will remember for the rest of my life.

“To end my time with the club on such a high with a brilliant group of teammates and a manager who has always supported me, is something I’ll always be proud of.

“Ipswich Town will always have a special place in my heart and I wish everyone well for the future.”

A true professional. I wish him nothing but the best with whatever team he joins.
Good luck Kayden and thank you for the way you conducted yourself and the 100% effort given whenever you were on the pitch.

Very best wishes Kayden.
I don’t ever recall a player in recent years who has put in the remarkable amount of effort that you have over such a long time. Some of those days were very dark days for the club but as I see it despite you not always being treated in the greatest way by some of our management you kept going.
Very well done you set a great example to others who may find themselves in similar situations.
I am sure a good club will snap you up and they will be getting a very good player with a top class attitude for sure.

Sorry to see you go. Your cameos in the team during our promotion seasons have been great. I reckoned Wrexham could be a good fit for you. Good luck for the future.

I always liked Kayden Jackson. His contribution to the club's success should not be underestimated. And what a wonderfully gracious statement he made. Some club is going to get a very fine player and a model professional.

A player that never failed to put in a shift and chipped in with some important goals over the past couple of seasons. Thanks, and I wish him all the best wherever his career takes him next.

The main thing town fans want from every player is 100% effort, you reached those heights consistently Kayden, and for that we thank you.
All the very best to you x

Very sad to see Kayden go. He could always be relied upon to put in maximum effort both going forward, and tracking back late in games to help out the defence. He was a top professional and fully committed to the club. He also comes across as a very decent person, and I'm sure many of us will be following his career with interest and wishing him well wherever he ends up.

Certainly was a journey for him, but he leaves with his head held extremely high and rightly so. Thank so much and good luck with a new challenge. Should easily get a championship club and hopefully play regular.

This is the one negative about the club progressing you have to say goodbye to some players who have been responsible for being part of this. Im not one for slagging off players especially those that give their all for the club and Kayden falls into that category although not technically as good as others in the squad his attitude has been top class. There are no rubbish players at Portman road just some that are not as good as others and people who slag off players and we know who they are are lacking a bit up top.

There's a whole spectrum of players in the game, from the utter bell ends to some of the best human beings you could ever meet. Kayden is right at the latter end of that spectrum. Absolute class act through and through. It has been one of the greatest pleasures of the last 2 1/2 years to see Kayden finally appreciated and valued for what he can do and what he can bring, rather than what he can't do. Even in this amazing season, Kayden has produced some of the most memorable. Thanks Kayden, sad to say goodbye and very best wishes for your next career move.

I have a lot of admiration for Kayden. He unfairly took a lot of stick from the fans and was treated very badly by some managers. He always gave his best, but unfortunately for some he was a reminder of the darker days and it is difficult to shake the association with the team that took us down, and he was one of those players we paid quite a lot for and didn't sell for anything when he moved on. He has had his redemption and proved that he had a vital part to play. Fans should never give a player stick for not being good enough. The manager has to make the best of who he has available, and when we do move up we do sometimes have to move on.
All the best Kayden!

So important in January as it turned out, as we waited for more players, he did the job to help us return to the promised land in an important season in the history of our club. Respect!
