U16s Face Canaries at Portman Road in Hospital Cup Wednesday, 19th Apr 2017 11:39 Town’s U16s will face their Norwich City counterparts at Portman Road in their annual Hospital Cup fixture on Thursday evening (KO 7.30pm).
The Hospital Cup, a pre-season staple at first-team level for many years until 1990, was revived as an U16s match played between the Blues and Canaries two years ago when the Norfolk side ran out 3-0 winners at Portman Road. Last year the Norfolk side won 2-1 at Carrow Road.
All proceeds will go to Town’s academy with tickets on the gate at £5 for adults, £3 for concessions and £1 for under-16s.
The game will be played over two halves of 40 minutes followed by extra-time and penalties if required.

Certainly not very well advertised in the local press, which is a great shame.

Good to see this revived but another PR opportunity missed.....why not invite all year 10/11 U16,s from all the schools around and give them free seats....(knowing that burgers , crisps etc will be bought a plenty ) ......have say 5000 in the ground connecting with their same age group and making supporters if the furniture while our U16 get encouraged and have experince playing in front of a large amount of people ......this isn't rocket science Ipswich .....why aren't we trying harder ?? Best wishes for the blues tonight

Give 'em hell, boys..! Excellent point, Cornishblu, even if your dicky tablet tried to sabotage it! Apropos of this, I was appalled to learn from a coach of one of Ipswich's younger teams that Norwich City - thanks to this disgraceful EPPP system - are allowed to just swan into Ipswich and recruit whichever IPSWICH children they want, just because they have a so-called category 1 academy..??!! How the hell is this allowed to happen??!!
