West Brom Youngster Linked
Wednesday, 31st May 2017 14:10

Town are reportedly keen on West Brom youngster Jonathan Leko, who could be allowed to move on loan ahead of the new season.

Leko, 18, has made three starts and 11 sub appearances for the Premier League Baggies’ first team so far without scoring but, according to the Express and Star, could be sent out on loan to gain experience with the Blues said to be the most interested in the highly-rated forward.

The 6ft tall Kinshasa-born frontman, who came through the youth system at the Hawthorns having moved to the UK aged eight, has played alongside Town youngsters Andre Dozzell, Nick Hayes and Ben Morris with the England U17s and U18s over the last couple of seasons.

Contracted to West Brom until the summer of 2019, Leko has previously been mentioned in connection with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City.

Hulltractor - thanks for posting the clip. Leko looks very good and I liked the way he was taking people on , getting around them and laying off dangerous passes. Only question I have about him viz-a-viz MM is "can he defend?". under Dino always the risk he could be turned in to a centre back as competition for Tommy........

Sounds very promising. It does not matter whether he is here for 1 season or 3 seasons, as long as he helps us perform better whilst he is here. I suspect we can't buy him because he is out of our budget and WBA probably won't sell and he probably would not leave them for us permanently whilst we are in the Championship. So what. If he does as well as Tom Lawrence I would be happy. He looks exciting going forward and I don't care whether he is 6ft either. I also am happy to sign a loan player now and not wait until we have signed all our permanent additions, what's the logic of that? Fingers crossed we get him and he won't be cheap, even for a one season loan.

This would be a great signing, even as a season loan, anyone saying anything otherwise is clearly a turd

Ive never felt so low about my club I so hoped Michael would fall on his sword how wrong was I. To make matters worse ive got a feeling hes going to get a contract extension until 2020. Very sad times indeed.

Anyone heard the rumor that Evans is looking at building a new stadium a multi use arena if true i can see another Coventry city in the making. SHEEPSHANKS WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?

Permanent signings only. Had enough of loan players doing it all on the cheap. Evans steps up or Fu*k off

He is a skillful winger/forward and I would welcome this signing if true, could be another Lawrence/Fraser. I can understand and accept we cant afford to buy players of this ilk. However I also fully expect permanent signings as well and don't care which happens first.

Phil - What is the latest news on MM he kept saying at end of season he would be sitting down with ME, when the season was over, to discuss his future. Any word from the club? Any gossip you can impart?

This lad is a really good player and would do a good job for us on a season loan and I personally don't see a negative on this news story if any truth in it ?
But it does highlight how much of a gap there now is between MM the club and supporters which I don't believe can be repaired showing there has to be a change in the summer in management or crowds will only decline further

Wouldnt say no on a permanent basis, but I seem to recall we have a highly rated youngster in our acadamy Ben Morris, lets give him a chance first...?

All this talk of players we are 'interested in' is a waste of time if we still have MM managing the club. MM's brand of ugly football will not bring in the crowds to watch and it's time the owner dispensed with MM's services.

Looks pacy strong and excellent feet. Loved the bit where he skinned Creswell twice. Sign him up.

its all rumours at moment, but if true, it would seem Evans is still happy with things as they are, no honest ambition, in fact seemingly no interest in ITFC ,end of. The fact that McCarthy is ''dug in '' after this past season, shows both apathy and contempt by both in my opinion . It seems my days as a Town supporter are finished after 50+ years. There is absolutely no way I will go to another match whilst things are as they are .

ST sales down by say 5000 to 8000 = c£3m less income = prepping for league 1 is my prediction. But wtf do I know. Why does anyone expect more?

Here come the loans! (again)...McCarthy now cemented his idea that if Huddersfield went up with loans this will help us survive, but an 18 year old one?

Remember when MM first came here he was going to clear them out...

Love the Game of Loans image dirtydingusmagee! :-)

Portman Road could be the Theatre of Screams this season with each match being followed by an episode of the Game of Moans!

I hope this summer last for some time as I'm dreading August to May!

On the subject of this actual thread, he looks a young raw talent, could be worth a punt if wages were affordable. Doubt he could make as big an impact as Lawrence but does he look better than Kieffer Dinomoore? You betcha!!!
