Rotherham Boss Confirms Interest in Town Duo
Thursday, 6th Jul 2017 15:16

Rotherham boss Paul Warne has confirmed his interest in taking Blues duo Kieffer Moore and Josh Emmanuel on loan. TWTD revealed that the Millers are keen on the Town pair late last month.

“There are still possibilities there,” Warne told the Sheffield Star. “There are possibilities with a few players and they are certainly two of them.”

Moore and Emmanuel are currently with the Town squad at their Irish training camp at the Carton House Hotel in Co Kildare.

As reported yesterday, Rotherham, who were relegated to League One at the end of last season, aren’t the only club interested in 24-year-old Moore.

Plymouth, Stevenage, Port Vale and Partick Thistle are among the other clubs eyeing a move for the former Forest Green Rovers man.

Meanwhile, free agent ex-Blue Liam Trotter, 28, has failed to win a contract with the Millers having spent time training with them over the last week having left Bolton Wanderers.

Elsewhere, Norwich City are reported to have made contact with Newcastle United regarding former Town striker Daryl Murphy.

According to the Northern Echo, the Canaries have made an enquiry about the 34-year-old, who has been told he can move on this summer.

The Magpies are said to be keen to recoup the £3 million they paid the Blues for the Ireland international last summer, while Norwich are claimed to want any potential deal to include a number of clauses. TWTD understands Middlesbrough are keen to sign Murphy.

Ex-Town skipper Jon Walters is close to moving from Stoke City to Burnley in a £3 million deal. The 33-year-old left the Blues for the Potters in 2010 for a fee which eventually rose to £3.25 million.

Former Blues loanee Richard Stearman, 29, has joined Sheffield United from Fulham for an undisclosed fee signing a three-year deal.

One-time Town target Jordan Hugill is reported to be interesting Birmingham City and Sunderland, who are managed by Simon Grayson, until recently was the 25-year-old’s boss at Preston.

The Blues made a number of bids for Hugill in January when the Lilywhites were unwilling to sell, but having signed Joe Garner from Rangers last month seem unlikely to pursue their interest in the ex-Port Vale man during this window.

Surely not right for Emmanuel to go out on loan at this stage !!
He made a number of appearances last year & whilst not reaching the heights of Kenlock surely will benefit this season as no. 2 choice at RB behind Spence in a 4-4-2 & arguable the better going forward in a 2-3-5.
Going on loan now has got to be a bit of a kick in the teeth & a step back.
Think it says a lot (again) about Micks true feelings about youth & the 5 point plan !!!!
Confused & a bit sad .....

Murphy move would be very strange! not sure how their fans would feel about that to be honest, he's going to cost 2-3 million even if there are different clauses etc and be on pretty decent money, almost 35 now too! I think if Boro are interested he would much rather join them.

Fine with Moore and Emmanuel going out on loan for experience, maybe a recall clause on any deal for Emmanuel incase Spence gets injured.

Of course Philo, do we really think that lad will get more out of being out on loan and playing then he will backing up Spence?

The EDO did a really good article earlier in the summer that showed that Town (and as such Mick) actually put more faith in youth that almost any other Championship vlublast season

Although we have signed three new players (Huws was part of last years squad), the overall depth still seems very week. With Berra leaving, surely we need cover at the back? With Bru and Pitman also likely to depart, it would seem we need to do a lot more business before loaning out our players? That said, both may benefit from regular football in league one.

Is Kieffer Moore trying to go for the Wolverine look?

Still think we need a Hugill type player up front as neither McGoldrick nor Garner have the aerial threat that we need. On last seasons showing Samuel is not the answer either and Moore looks way off Championship standards. No way will Murphy come back but it's that type of target man we need and will be gutted if he goes to Norwich. MM still has much to do and agree with Jas we need a battering ram of a defender at the back to replace Berra. Chambers and Webster will be ok but Smith does not convince me I'm afraid which leaves Knudsen as the back up if playing 4-4-2 assuming Kenlock owns the left back position. Am pleased with signings so far but we still need more to be competitive.

I know what you mean BluesandTrues but one of those players was Emmanuel.....so would this not be a backward step ?

You cannot get recall clauses any more unless conference!!!!! Been said so many times. Josh going on season long loan would be a crazy decision.

Emmanual must have really got at MM for a good prospect to be dumped at Rotherham what the hell is he going to learn or improve there??????????????????????????

After reading all the positive comments on Josh on past managerial form the opposite tact will be employed so off he goes!!
What do us mere fans know!!!

Half season loan playing week in week out has got to be better than bench warming. If he's not 1st choice give the lad actual game experience so he improves.

I can see how backing up Spence is better than playing each week. If he doesn't then he's back at Xmas if he does well he might be back and I'm the team at Xmas.

Unless he's going to get lots of time from the bench I see a loan and competitive action each week as likely to be highly beneficial and can't see how playing is a division down is backwards step from bench warming in the champ

Moore or Rylan?

Would be reluctant to see Josh go, while there have been definitely some good additions to the squad , it is still rather small and this could come back to haunt us if we are hit with a couple of injuries.
If Murphy is leaving Newcastle why are we not interested - is it salary or contract duration?

Says a lot about Moore when I care more about Murphy's future than his

Just because Rotherham are interested does not mean it's going to happen.

Would be nice of you to wait before the usual barrage of MM criticism.

Personally would like both to do a pre-season with us and see how it goes.

The defence has a god balance and cover as we stand. Moore may yet surprise.......

I would like both of these to stay for different reasons.

KM AT 6ft.5 his going to be a handful at the very least, always useful if your chasing the game or even 'parking the bus'. I would like to see him given more of a chance, if he were to get on the scoresheet you never know! He certainly offers something different should he improve.

JE My fear here is that he just don't float the Dino's boat! He showed promise on occasions last year and would be competition for Spence, you need at least two players for each position and with our wafer thin squad we don't appear to have that yet in all departments. Like cromwellblue says though, let's see what pans out before making judgements.

Fine as long as they ( espescially Emmanuel) have recalls. a couple of injuries and our paper thin squad will show through. Also if Mucks dreary tactics fail again his replacement will need all hands on deck

The only real reason for Emmanuel going on loan will be so that Chambers can play at RB (have no choice as no other RB at Club). I think Josh is unlucky not to be the 1st choice RB as he does have some better attributes than Spence.
Emmanuel should have played in place of Chambers before we signed Spence, but that meant dropping either Berra or Chambers and we all know that was never going to happen
I can see us starting with 3 (5) at the back to accommodate the 3 CBs (Chambers, Webster and Smith, plus perhaps Taylor). Thats OK as long as you do not play 2 defensive midfielders as well, oh and Knudsen is not a wing back (or a CB for that matter).
I think there are some difficult decisions for MM in the coming weeks, and I am blindly hoping that he does not revert to type and Play his favourites no matter what !!!

Bialkowski
Emmanuel Webster Smith Kenlock
Celina, Huws, Adeyimi Ward
McGoldrick or Sears, Garner

Emmanuel...

Own Youth Product.
In the team before Kenlock.
Good on the ball. Physical. No slouch.
Better than Spence - splits opinion but I honestly believe he is.

So we're farming him out why?
