Town’s U18s are in FA Youth Cup third round tie action against Everton at Goodison Park this evening (KO 7pm).

The winners of the tie will face either Oxford or Dagenham & Redbridge at home in round four.

“It’s a very good opportunity for the U18s to showcase what they’re about,” academy manager Lee O'Neill told the club site.

“It’s always exciting in the Youth Cup as the games have a bit more to them than usual.

“Playing under the lights in a new stadium with more people watching will be a different challenge for them. We know Everton will be very good but we’re looking forward to it.”

Last season the Blues' U18s exited the Youth Cup in the third round - the stage at which they enter the competition - following a 4-2 defeat at Nottingham Forest after extra time.

Town have carried off the trophy on three occasions, in 1973, 1975 and 2005.
