Burley on Life's a Pitch
Friday, 5th Jan 2018 19:37

Life’s a Pitch is live on BBC Radio Suffolk from the FanZone at lunchtime on Saturday with Blues legend George Burley joining regulars Mark Murphy, legend-in-residence Kevin Beattie, New Tractorboy and TWTD's Phil Ham (12-2pm).

Burley was a member of Town’s 1978 FA Cup-winning side alongside Beattie and also managed the Blues during numerous feisty encounters with Saturday’s third round opponents Sheffield United during the late nineties Taricco Wars.

Can Town win an FA Cup tie for the first time since 2010? Give us your thoughts on that question or anything else via email, Mark’s Twitter or during the show by phone on 01473 212121 or text to 81333 starting your message with SFK.

The show can be heard on 95.5FM, 95.9FM, 103.9FM and 104.6FM, and also now on DAB, or online via a widget on this page by clicking here.

I would like to see George Burley as Director of football giving Gerard Nash a guiding hand as coach. I have no idea if that would be successful but at least it would mean Portman Rd is a lot less toxic than it is now ,and we the fans would have a manager who was proud to manage Ipswich ,lives in the Town and respects the supporters of ITFC.

Must confess things aren't as good now as they were under George and to a lesser extent Royle. But to bring Burley back would be a huge mistake!

12th Man what does it matter he,s been out of the game for years , so has Mc Carthy, we probably use lace up leather balls in training , that's why we hoof the light modern ball.

Well that hasn't helped MM he's still in the dark ages!

Burley would bring back style and passion. No more praising the opposition. He wouldn't take long to identify what the team needs and how to get over his approach to winning style. It's going to be a journey but would prefer his ride than MMs.
However I've no faith in Evans after sacking Magic and trusting his "advisers" to go with names. Thats 3 out of 3 wrong.
