Gleeson One of Two Loan Signings
Thursday, 18th Jan 2018 22:08

Midfielder Stephen Gleeson won’t be the only new addition in the Blues squad travelling to Bolton for Saturday’s match at the Macron Stadium.

Another loan signing, understood to be a central defender, is at the club completing the formalities relating to his move. Both signings are set to be announced on Friday morning.

Town are in the market for another centre-half with Tommy Smith set to join the Colorado Rapids.

Brighton’s Connor Goldson has been the player expected to join to facilitate Smith’s move, the 25-year-old having come close to signing for Town on deadline day in August.

Quizzed on the situation with Goldson earlier today, manager Mick McCarthy wouldn’t comment.

Elsewhere, former Blue Shane O’Connor, 27, has joined Longford Town from Waterford in his native Ireland.

looking on the comments on the Birmingham Mail site quite a few are saying they're going to miss him and Gardner is the one that should be leaving, so you never know he could be a good bit of cover for the rest of the season , welcome anyway Stephen hope you do well at Town COYB

oh yes how will they cope missing a player that's mostly injured and played in 3 games this season?

Amazing - two “supporters” down marked Totalblue's post.

Clearly building for the future...more loanees and we get rid off a homegrown who should be our future captain in Tommy Smith. Upwards and onwards lol.....what a shambles we are under this buffoon and invisible president

A majority of supporters were saying we needed a centre back and a midfielder and it seems MIck has delivered. Youngsters are pushing through, and if MCColdrick/Sears/Bru leave it could be a good opportunity for them. Ideally, we want Ipswich to be known as the club that gives youngsters a chance. Look what's happened to 750K Signing Charlie Brown at Chelsea.

...here I am having a mid morning coffee wondering whether the frustrations that mick has in not getting decent loan signings has something to do with the fact that
...he has his favourites
...is perfectly willing to slag a player off in public
...has only one plan that usually resorts in hoofball
...swears at and belittles his fans
...currently manages a team that plays in front of a toxic atmosphere due to all the above

......Nah.....can't be those could it ??

To the idiots suggesting to boycott PR. How on earth is that going to help the club?? More lost money, more chance of player sales to balance the books, lower budget therefore standard of players get even worse.......
Short term deals we will have to accept, otherwise next season we will potentially have 10 midfielders when all return to fitness. We have been unlucky on that front, before people moan about training methods the injury nearly all occurred during matches from challenges. So are we suggesting our team is unfit? Some will take any story just to have a dig without looking at the big picture and reality.

Careful Rensham. You are turning into Blueboy.
And nobody would wish that on anybody.

I'm all for loan signings in January. We have an injury crisis so you can't replace those players permanently (bishop, huws, dozzell) and if they do well then great, if they don't then we know what we need in the summers
