Town keeper Matteo Sereni could be on his way to Brescia despite recent reports that the Italian club are happy with their goalkeeping situation.

Brescia president Gino Corioni now appears keen to sign the Town stopper with his current number one, Luca Castellazzi, seemingly on his way to Sunderland.

Corioni admitted that he is trying to offload their present keeper while looking to Sereni: "We have tried to sell Castellazzi, but we have still not done this.

"The possibility still exists that Sereni will arrive. He is the keeper we want. The situation is that perhaps Sereni comes, it is a possibility."

Previously a Brescia spokesperson said the club were happy with the keepers they already have and despite reports in Italian newspapers to the contrary would not be making a move for Sereni.

The Town keeper has already made it known that he favours a move back to Italy and recently said that he would welcome a switch to Corioni's club: "For me it would be ideal to move to Brescia."

Town bought Sereni from Sampdoria for £4.8 million last August. He is thought to be the club's highest paid player on £22,000 a week.

The Blues will hope to recoup much of his fee, while the player says he is willing to take a pay-cut to move back to his homeland.

Sereni's hometown club Parma have also shown interest in the 27-year-old former Italian U21 keeper this summer.
