Harrison Out for At Least Two Months
Saturday, 29th Sep 2018 18:14

Town boss Paul Hurst has revealed that striker Ellis Harrison will be out of action for at least two months having ruptured a ligament in his ankle. The Blues manager says he will look at whether to bring in a free agent having lost another striker, loanee Jon Walters, to injury earlier in the week.

“He’s not very good at all,” Hurst said when asked about summer signing Harrison, who suffered the knock in training.

“I think he’s ruptured a ligament in his ankle so we expect him to be out for a minimum of a couple of months, perhaps longer.

“It’s a frustration we’ve lost him, Emyr Huws, I said he felt his knee so he didn’t train Friday and wasn’t available. He hasn’t played but we were hoping he’d made a step forward again.

“And Myles Kenlock was another one we lost on Thursday to an ankle knock. That shouldn’t be anything like Ellis’s, he might be back training on Monday, I’m not sure.”

Free agents are Hurst’s only source of new recruits until January and he admits he may look at bringing someone in via that route.

“I think with Ellis we need to have a look at it,” he admitted, having previously said it was unlikely in the wake of Walters’s injury. “If there is something out there that we feel can help us, we’ll look at it.

“It doesn’t change my feelings overall, but if we are going to be without him having lost Jon - and I don’t want to lose any players - but you lose him, who gives you a physical presence at the top end of the pitch, then we lose Ellis who will compete, win headers etc, maybe we’re a little bit light in options.

“Kayden Jackson showed some of his attributes again today and Freddie Sears, they’re the two obvious ones but after that we haven’t really got too many options.”

My suggestions would be::

Lacina Traore - over 2 metre Ivorian striker i doubt he would come here though?

Emmanuel Mayuka - played at southampton, zimbabwean striker, quality.

Cedric Gondo - 1.87m ivorian / italian young striker who was a youth player with fiorentina, currently on trial at st mirren, I think Hurst should get on the phone.

Cedric Badjeck

David Browne - papua new guinea international, with english dad, played for groningen got to be worth a punt. A Proper tractor boy with name of a tractor brand. made for the club.

This season is turning out to be an absolute disaster...so far.

Another season where the Treatment Room is doing a roaring trade ........... whatever the reason for that, it NEEDS SORTING once and for all.

Becoming a perennial excuse for players, and results - and some fans ..... !!

Quite simple Evans and Hurst - you need to get someone in, and don't expect to get any quality for peanuts ..... which is what you will both probably be looking for, and expecting.

If indeed the fact has even registered with you BOTH.

....... no chance of Huws or Bishop making much progress, the cold weather, and winter is coming, much more inviting places to be, including the Treatment Room.

Cmon Alan Lee, time to dust off the old boots buddy! TC was at the game today, he might be able to do a job.
Not looking good on the striker front but big chance for Freddie!

The injuries we get are just ridiculous- obviously training is too tough or players get losers limp.

We need Gerry Creaney, Samassi Abou, Nicklas Gudmonssen, John Deehan or Neil Gregory

Giseppi Rossi is free, we can't afford him and injury prone but good player

Sorry Daleyitfc, I hit the down arrow by mistake instead of the up one.
I agree about the sports science comments you make. It is about time the players just trained to play the game instead of monitoring when they are likely to run out of steam.
We can have as many fit players that can build body strength or be quick over 20 yards or so but if they keep getting injured what's the point of all this modern day technology?

Some might say we are unlucky on the injury front but when you keep on flogging the same dead horses such as Huws, Bish and Tom it's little wonder. I said last season they won't be involved much and here we are. Shame on the Harrison front, but in all honesty he ain't offered much. Lucky we only go with one up top!

One wheel on my wagon...

So now down to Jackson, no pressure mate and well done to Evans for selling Garner on deadline day without a replacement.

"“He's not very good at all"....that statement seems to sum up all of hursts signings so far,,........with town and the wallabies challenging each other weekly to see who can perform more poorly its maybe a good time to take up knitting..

Use our own players. Morris and Folami must be worth a punt

dirtydingusmagee added 16:43 - Sep 30
should have kept Morris with us in first place, we have better players out on loan than we have home trying to get our first win, its farcicle.

Having lost two, of a very limited strike force in the past week, we need replacements - either recall wise (if indeed possible) or free agents.

Don't overlook the serious need Head Honcho's, and don't stall either - or the chances continue to increase of LEAGUE 1 with every game.
